Howdy everyone... nice forms btw

Is there a Power Commander type programmable mapping add on that can be used with the Murano, preferably an on the fly type change like the Subaru Outbacks have (on the fly can change from Economy type mode to full power sport mode, this just changes the fuel & timing maps to the computer)?

Can you do any offroading with an AWD, or is it just for Snow/bad weather on road? Sorry never had an AWD, but there are a few trails that I wouldnt mind being able to hit (Ive heard what the Outback can do, and just wondering were Nissans AWD system stood)?

Thanks in advance

Hi Ripcord!

I don't know of any add on for the Murano that can alter performance characteristics on the fly.

IMHO the Murano is not intended as an offroad vehicle. It has decent ground clearance but the exhaust system hangs pretty low. I guess it would do pretty good on light trails but I wouldn't push it any further. I just don't view it as that kind of vehicle. (At $40k I'm not knocking down any trees with mine!! )

As far as the AWD goes I feel it's geared more for safety in bad weather conditions than offroading. AWD kicks in when wheel slip is detected. The Murano does have a pseudo 4WD mode where you can lock in AWD at speeds up to about 25mph. However, if you plan to spend much time offroad a 4WD vehicle is the way to go.

brainguyus, thanks....

Do you know of any Power COmmander type device that you can at least change the fuel/Timing on, even if it isnt on the fly?

The AWD question was just a curiosity one, and thanks

Well, if you're last name is Gates or Rockefeller you can check out the Consult III. It's goes for about $10k. It's the diagnostic tool that the dealers use. The site claims that you can download reprogrammable data to the vehicle. http://nissanconsult.spx.com/overview.aspx

Other than that I know of nothing. There are several other tuner/analyzers out there but none of them fully support the '09 Murano at this time. You may want to pick some brains over in the VQ forum.

Welcome to NICOclub! Welcome to the Murano Forum! I can tell you this, you will love the Murano, and it does handle like a true champ in the snow and ice, so I would imagine it would handle rather well in light trails, I wouldn't suggest any heavy off-roading
