so im wonder what do you guys think...is there any potential in n/a power for this car/engine?

i just reallly really want to drive my car again and not have any down time...downtime is really getting me down haha, sucha f***ing pain

i'd rather do like...one mod a weeekend and slowly make my way up

So your asking how much power you can get out of a n/a ka24? Probably 200 with nitrous. Thats what i have untill i get the funds together for an engine swap. Intake, exhaust, ect really don't do much. Maybe ten hp.

a lot of people ask the same thing...and yeah, 200-220 and that's with 11:1 pistons/etc and headwork for high rpm and whatnots

KA's are really made for NA, especially with that long stroke. KA's are great daily drives but sr's and rb's are idea for HP setups and cooking your neighborhood rice. SR's are getting pretty cheap too. Someone I knew sold his entire running sr swap for 1k. People are desperate for cash.

...long stroke=no n/a...?! what about the countless n/a stroked v8's? oh and in terms of the potential of the ka, have you ever heard of Ivan and his KA24DET s14, last I checked it was over 700Whp and rising. the KA is a great engine for all levels of performance.

OP- anywho, the KA is a fun n/a engine, it just depends on how much you want to spend. intake, exhaust, headers, and cams(BC V2 for street) are a great start. to break 200 though you need moderately high compression (~10:1) with a good valve job, porting, and I would recommend full internals;if you can afford it a stroker kit from BC would be great, especially for it's fully counterweighted crank. If you want to rev higher then I would recommend the xcessive intake manifold w/ a N62 MAFS and a throttle body of a similar diameter to improve breathing up there. oh yeah, alum pulleys from maple racing, alum flywheel, alum driveshaft, to get more of the power to the wheels, yadda, yadda, yadda.

sorry if it's unorganized but there is a lot to it. if you are interested in this direction with it's power potential then we(bigvinnie is a great source BTW) can get into detail or wtv you need.

I said long stroke is good for N/A and torque too. read my message again...Sure you can make ka's hit the high #'s but at what cost? Throwing rods are a long stroke turbo engines specialty. Bad argument thread starter!

oh sorry lol, I thought you said "KA's areN'T really made for NA". whoops, well anywho, it should cost about the same if not less than an SR to get high power. With the KA there is no swap so you save 1,000-2,500 there and then all of the parts that you put on the KA would have to be upgraded on the SR anyways(existing turbo setup isn't that great) be it internals, turbo, manifolds, piping, etc. As for RB swaps, very expensive + heat issues, modifications to make things fit, etc., RB25/26's are great engines though, but those and the SR just aren't worth it in my opinion.

Sorry about the thread jack.

But either way this guy wants to stay n/a and in that department the KA should do better because of it's larger displacement and longer stroke.

On a side note, my old KA slid around pretty well with just an exhaust and intake.

you really need to consider what your going to build for...drag?..drift? autocross/road?......for drift its not nessasaraly horsepower..think of it as a lambo..ya there fast..at the top end with a decent 0-60 allso...but torque..its not there...torque gives the S chasis the ability to push throu corners when drifting...as for the road set up...id to a fast spool turbo for exiting the corners quicker and concentrate on upgrading the S chasis braking capability's..and for drag...low comp pistons...apr studs all ways round..lots of spray and a BIG compressor with a meatal "O" ring copper gasket combo! pushing 30 psi for about 600+hp:)..those are the options for this power plant man...on a good note..if ya screw sumping up with the block..its 400 bucks for another one..not another 2k for one of the popular swapps.
