After a few test drives yesterday, I have my heart set on the '06 G35 coupe 6MT. Since you all are G fanatics, tell me what are some of your likes and dislikes of your babe? What options do you recommend??

I've had mine for 3 weeks now...First, I LOVE my car! It is one of the best handling, smoothest, comfortable cars that I've ever been in. But you already know that, after a test drive.

Here's some of the negative:

1. Shifting: It takes getting used to...it seems to be very finicky on 1-2, 2-3 shifts.2. Some interior rattles. I get a few coming from the dash vents...3. Stereo: Sucks...desperately needs more low frequency response.4. Seat belt sucks. Very poor design! I think they updated it in the 06...5. Power...wish it had more!

What to get:

Aero package, premium package, Wheel & Tire package

I don't have Nav, but I don't miss it either.

Welcome aboard, TopDown!

Joe pretty much covered it - I absolutely LOVE my Coupe, I don't have the interior rattles or seatbelt issues that Joe has, but he's on target for the other stuff.

I honestly don't think there's a car on the market that can compete with the Coupe for the price.

After 4 years, the styling is still classy, and still turns heads.

I have aero, premium, Brembos and nav in my 6MT, and although I don't use the nav often, it's a nice feature. I wouldn't pay extra for it.

Don't spend extra on tires/wheels, if you're like 90% of Coupe owners you'll swap out for aftermarket wheels within the first year.

Welcome aboard!!!

Had my 6MT since December and I'm more in love each day I drive it. Here's my 3 month take:

PROSHandles like a slot carMakes great soundsFantastic brakesEnough power to make folks noticeSupportive seats hold you in placeFantastic, sexy looksNice clutch engagementImpressive resale value

CONSBose stereo is awful! (I'm getting a new amp and new speakers...)Wish it got better mileageOccasional dash rattle (there's been a TSB on this, so the dealers know how to handle it. I'm just waiting for it to get worse)Tire noise on rough road (I have the 19s)

Regarding the shifter: it's a bit notchy and takes some effort to move from 1st to 2nd. But the other shifts are fine. I've had better and worse.

Do they offer the 19s in 06? I love my wheels!!!

Another option is to try and find a low mileage 05 with everything you want. You could save up to 10k (I paid 31k for mine with 5k miles).

Yes, the 06 has 19's. But people are selling brand-new takeoffs for around $1K, so you could put the forged 19's on a pre-06 car.

I agree though, a pre-owned Coupe is one of the best values on the market.

Thanks for all your comments!

So I'm curious, not that it would affect my decision making, is it true that the G35 doesn't retain its value as much as, lets say MB, BMW, AUDI?

Not true at all, according to leaseguide.com, the G35 is better than most Audi cars! Hell, its even better than some BMW/MB models...

I am also thinking of a G coupe, 6MT. I have found several I like but trying to hold out for a blue with light colored interior. My main problem isnt the car payment but my insurance company wants to stick it to me with a $1600 6month policy. I think they are off their D--n rocker! But that is all that is really holding me back. If I cant find a better ins policy I fear I will have to continue with my RB25DET swap into my 96 240. BUT I'd much rather have a G coupe!

That insurance price sux. I am looking into trading the wifes '02 Cougar on a '05 coupe and insurance was only an additional $100 for 6 months.

If I remember correctly, the G coupe has been in the top 5 for cars retaining value ever since it came out.

I've owned an '04 G35 Coupe 6MT since October of 2003. Hooked since the first test drive. Moded my car for track events (although out of the box performance is awesome). You'll have no regrets owing this car!

I just bought my 2005 G35 Coupe in December.......I LOVE IT! I highly recommend it. My speakers sound great and it's a nice quiet car. Time to put some pics on here!

It is the Gialla grille. I ordered it along with the Impul spoiler from Bulletproof through a group buy.

Wow, very impressive list. I love those numbers with the Vortech SC. What do you have planned next?
