Potential ESX35 newbie, needs some background info

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hello everyone,

I'm looking at a used 2008 ESX35 that has 52k miles, at a Nissan dealership. It's not Certified Pre-Owned, but has a good Autocheck report and has had some minor repairs made to it (brakes, lights, etc).

I drive a lot, about 84 miles per day, and I'm concerned about burning through the vehicle before a loan is paid off :-) I understand that the drivetrain has been around since 2003 -- does anyone know about the reliability of these beyond 100k miles? I tend to keep my vehicles for a long time, too.

I'm working the numbers game with the dealer; what do you all feel is a fair price. The vehicle had one owner and was purchased at auction (I traced the VIN) for about 19k. I'm trying to work with the dealer to get a lower price that I can work with.

I would bring this to an independent Infiniti dealership and pay them to inspect it (I wonder what that would cost!) to locate any possible issues.

Thanks for any tips, info, etc. I've never been in an Infiniti and I'm smitten.

Hey Forrie-

I can't help much with the longevity discussion, but I can chime in on the price discussion. I just bought my '08 EX35 Journey AWD in July for $21,600 with 49k miles. Came with 17" rims, but had navi, Bose premium sound, sunroof, etc It was a lease buy out from my wife's boss and it was in stellar condition, well maintained by the dealer, etc. So, depending on what options you're getting with it, it sure sounds like you're getting a decent deal. I definitely agree with the pre-purchase inspection at an indy dealer for sure.

For what it's worth, I wouldn't worry too much about putting higher mileage on these cars; in my opinion , just keep current with your maintenance, and this EX should be with you for a long while :)

Hope this helps a little. And welcome to the fold! :)

Welcome forrie,

I was in the same boat as you last month when we got our EX35. I had never been in one and we just fell in love with it.
Ours was at 50k miles off a 3 year lease and is fully loaded with basically all of the upgrades. We paid $23k even. What is the dealer asking price?
