Hello All,

I think this is the best place to ask some honest advice about G37's. I have love the G series for years now and finally am looking to upgrade into one. I am looking into lease to buy options right now. There are some great deals going on $299 month with $2500 down for only 24 months. After calling around my Impala will trade for about $3K, not to mention I have some for a down payment if needed.

My real question is how are the 2013's in comparison to previous years? would it be in my best interest to get a 2013, wait for the 2014 or go with a 2011 or 2012? Also anyone have any experience leasing to buy?

Thanks in advance I look forward to getting some trustworthy advice compared to "Consumer or Customer Reviews"

John

My advise is to price to own now. Get internet quotes and visit three dealers for test drives. Get their best out the door price. Aim for December 24th or December 31st to close the deal.

If you can't afford the monthly payments to purchase then you are over your head In that case keep your Impala for another year

Just my $.02

My advice is don't buy it.

My 2012 is an unresponsive dog. It's actually the second G that I have owned, the other being a 2005. (Both bought brand new.) The 2005 was a great car. I loved that car. So much so that I bought a 2012 (both cars bought brand new from the same dealer.)

The 2012 is terrible. Totally unresponsive with a very unacceptable lag. You hit the gas and it just sits there. I've had it into the dealer 3 times for service and nothing has been done about (or perhaps more accurately "can be done"). I've called the Infiniti Customer Service number twice and emailed into the ether once and no-one bothers to even call you back.

If you like cars that are unresponsive and slow - then by all means go out and waste 50 grand on a G37.

But I would think there are far better options out there. (Think Audi, or BMW, or Lexus).

Google "Infiniti G37 lag" and you'll see.

Here's a link to a thread I started 1.5 years ago about this lag issue. The problem persists. Infiniti remains silent on the issue:

PS

I am a car guy. I've done frame off restorations on classic British and American cars. I've rebuilt motors and I've been laying under cars since I was 8 years old. I am not a tire kicker and I am not in the cheering section just to pat myself on the back about my car.

I'm hugely disappointed in my 2012 G37x. I'm telling it like it is.

The thrill of driving my 2005 G lasted for years. Every time I got in that car, I got a bit of a rush. I get in the 2012 and I get angry.

@ Chonch. I think it would be appropriate to ask if you were thinking about getting a manual or automatic. (Although I seem to recall seeing somewhere that the G37x was never available as a manual.)

Either way, if you are looking for something that is consistently sporty, the G37x with the 7AT might not be for you. (unless you always use the "Sport Drive" mode which will be a huge MPG drain)

If you are fine with a car that is sacrificing much of it's "powerful sporty character" in "Drive" to give you a few more MPG, but know that you can flip it into a more responsive mode with "Sport Drive" to have fun every once in a while, then maybe it is for you.

In my opinion the car is at least worth a test drive.
