ok, im board so here is this thread that might save you time and effort. I saw a few threads with driveshaft questions while searcing for info on a one piece aluminum.

Do you have to take out the driveshaft to get out engine/trans?

NO

infact my last engine swap I did several years ago I did without removing the driveshaft.

after you have everything disconnected except for the driveshaftpull the engine/trans out carefully, the shaft will slide out of the trans, duh you all new that.but did you know that you can also put the sr engine/trans in the car without cracking the various ds bolts. this requires 2 persons 2 jack stands and a jack.

once i had the eng/trans almost all the way in I lined up the ds end to the trans and the other person pushed. then if you are very lucky it goes in. but most of the time you have to turn the ds alittle to get the splines to lineup, which I did by jacking one wheel up and turning it slightly while person 2 pushes(vlsd) openend diff cars probly would need both rear wheels jacked up alittle, then turn ds by hand.(for safety use 2 more jackstands)

don't force it you could damage the splines

I searched on here before hand but sorry if there was already a post on this that i missed. I seem to remember writing this thread before....maybe another forum....after 2 swaps my third was easyer with this teqnique
