Hey guys,I think that I want to go with a different turbo/manifold/wastegate combo because I will be driving my car daily and would rather have a quick spooling turbo than a laggy one. The IHI one I have hits full boost around 3k (I was told) and is a dual ball bearing but might be too big for my setup. I still want a big turbo for track weekends but I want to get more into the handling of the 240 rather than just the straight line (seeing as I want to Drive Champ/Formula 1.) If anyone would like to buy my exhaust-side combo, please let me know. I am not selling for sure but if I find something I like then I will sell/trade. The setup is a custom exhaust manifold with IHI flange, IHI RHC6 turbocharger(550hp capable) and a TIAL 38mm wastegate. Please let me know in here, by e-mail, or on AIM at Two4zeroSXTURBO.

If you have an idea or suggestion, post it.

thanks!-Ian

what series are you racing in right now? ive got a friend running in the barber dodge national series this year (well, he WAS, then he had to sit out the last few races because his parents bought a house in vail, CO and i tkinda ate up the racing fund). and what kind of price would you be wanting for that setup? not that i can afford it, but it will give me an idea how much i need to beg for money, hehe.

edit: have you tried the setup youve got right now? if not you may wanna give it a go before you go selling it, it may be to your liking. full boost at 3k sounds pretty swank to me.

well i hadnt really thought about it too much. i would need to find something right away to replace it with though. lets see, i paid $400 for the manifold and $100 to get the flange changed to a IHI one, $240 for the wastegate, and $600 for the turbo. so i guess look at that and see what you would estimate is reasonable. none of them have been used since i got them. manifold and wastegate are brand new, turbo is lightly used (no shaft play).

it was a custom manifold that someone on the boards was selling a long time ago. i wanna say that it was ray's but i'm not sure. its a tubular manifold with a bottom mount and a flange on the top for a tial 35mm wastegate.

right now i would really like a top mount manifold with a t3 flange and a spot for a 38mm tial gate or an hks gate.

check out teh thread on custom minifold, i posted a bunch of info about a JGStools.com log or equal runner manifold i am thiking of making, lets badger them into making CA flanges and CA18 kits, bomb them with request, i think that should do the trick...

wait... you got a dual BB turbo that supports 550hp for only $600? was it brand new when you bought it? are IHI turbos really that cheap?

yeah, the turbo was used and i got it for 600. lots of mr2 guys in japan use turbos like these because of the spool and power. right now I am looking to get a new custom manifold and a t3/t4 of some sort so the IHI and custom mani are pretty much up for sale.

would this be a good turbo for my application?LOOK Or do I need something different. I'm looking for 400whp daily and a lil bit more on weekends :ylsuper

Thanks-Ian

It's a good turbo, but you will visit some lag as well. You must understand that the CA18DET is not a huffer before 3k. My girl's car can't spool the T3/T04E stageIII .60 A/R and .63 exhaust good before 4k. But when it spools, my how the traffic seems to go in reverse. Keep what you got or get a T3/T04B stage I or II wheels. The CA18DET loves that turbo as I'm living proof of it. Almost the perfect lick for street and strip for this motor.
