i think he started this thread mainly to get the opinions on the RX-8.It looks clean man, will you just be taking over payments or are you taking it for a low price?

The hater in me says "f" that rx-8. However....it is very pretty and if I had the loot...(and had no other car options to pick from) then I would get the renesis.

Keep in mind one thing though - I know this to be true...I read a long time ago in some car mag....

1) I believe when the Rx-8 was first released, it was greatly underpowered for the HP rating Mazda claimed. So much in fact, that enthusiasts of the Renesis (rotary fans) cryed boo so loud that Mazda offered two options to loyal customers:

a) a 2k rebateb) The right to sell back the car - with no money lost.

Anyways...dunno if any of the new rx-8's suffer from the same problem...or if mazda did anything different to garner higher HP from the car...

PS: Rotaries are nice..imho - only the RX-7 (fc3s and Fd) are worth my money. (see...I'm a hater!)

Keep the vert...just keep it. You can always get a RX-8...they aren't going anywhere. But your chances of ever finding a nice clean vert again...are kinda slim these days.

Wiki wrote:In late 2003 Mazda issued a press release stating that the actual horsepower of the RX-8 was up to 5% less than previously advertised. Mazda offered to buy back any of the affected vehicles sold in the United States. Those who chose to keep the cars were given other incentives such as free maintenance, parts, and accessories.

In August 2006, Mazda announced that a miscalculation with oil metering had led to the engines in a few RX-8s to experience problems with severe power loss and rough idle. Mazda voluntarily recalled all 2004 and 2005, and some 2006 models to test for this issue. All engines that failed a vacuum test would be replaced at no charge, even if the car was out of warranty. Mazda also extended all recalled vehicles drivetrain warranty by 1 year/10,000 miles to a complete 5 year/60,000 mile warranty. Most affected vehicles were in hotter climates, and were exposed to high traffic, low rpm driving, and long idle periods. Mazda estimates that less than 1% of vehicles engines needed to be replaced. For vehicles that do not require an engine replacement, Mazda updated the PCM to provide more oil injection at idle, and low rpm driving. The catalytic converter and leading spark plugs were checked and replaced on need.
Always liked the amount of honesty Mazda has had. But yeah, i think that the only thing RX-8's are good for are the 20b swap, which is very rare and very expensive.

yes, you are right. and there were several recalls about 4 things...some of them had an engine recall very small # though.thanks for looking out bro!I did my research on it. everything really.checked with my insurance and stuff!

rx8 owners main beef is lack of power, they say just take it to corners... lol... (240s, we would say slide)since 8 is good at handling.

I understand. but still........ due to lack of money and being a full time college student...... I might sell it.not decided yet, maybe i will just take insurance off of vert.

But in other hand, i hope a good owner takes care of my baby.if i keep it, most of time its gonna be sitting.I would rather see this vert with RB or SR everyone loves sr, rb powered vert! lol

I will let you guys know first about selling my car.its gonna be more than a month though!

dude - I started college late (I decided to go right into a tech school...then finished and went straight to college after working for a year).

When I was in college:

1) I worked a 15/h week job the first 2 years, and a 30h/week job the last 2.

2) Went to school full time year round. No less than 15 credits any given semester (sometimes it hit 18) and at least 1-2 classes every summer.

3) I got married my junior year, and raised a son w/wife in my senior year

4) Spent 1 year living with the inlaws, the other year in a one bedroom apt with my wife and son.

All the while, I was able to maintain 2 cars (wife + me). It was very very very rough...but we pulled thru with the help of gifts here and there...and made due with what we have.

Moral of the story: Where there is a will, there is a way. Keep the 240 Vert.

close thread!

RX-8s are nothing but problems.

I'm not a fan of the 'bubble' top to allow for the 2 back doors. And I think that body kit makes it look worse.

I gotta disagree with you on this.

RX8's are nice! .

I say get it and keep the vert for now.. you can always sell one of them down the road if you get into financial trouble.

I work FT, go to school PT and have a PT job just so I can afford the S2k, all my other bills and my lifestyle. (i go out a lot!)

My vert just sits around all day doing nothing, I feel too bad to sell it!

You should be driving it and giving it the love it needs!

I can't sell my vert...it's my DD...

Rare240sx...if it absolutely must be done...sell it to somebody you know for sure will give it the treatment it deserves. I am still against it but if you must do it for financial or school reasons...what more can I say?

To me that front bumper is the worst thing ever. It seems like a ricer civic kit. Too much going on, no smothness or nice lines. Just large pointy pieces coming right for ya.

I think it looks better like this than it was stock. That kit is very aggressive...I would only get it if it was serving a functional purpose. I think RX-8's are already aggressive from a design standpoint...so a simple aero would do the job well. As for it being rice...I don't it has reached that point.

If you take that RX-8...it will need some black rims.

See an RX-8 that looks like this with a kit ain't bad at all...
