I was changing out my Ca18 throttle body for the Ka throttle body and happen to look inside the manifold and saw black residue inside. I know it's hard to tell what it might be from the picture but any input would be greatly appreciated.

It's oil from blow-by from the PCV system. How's your compression?

Alright that makes sense. I'll take a compression test and post up the numbers, I thought about doing that now I just need to get the tester from a buddy. Thanks float.

i had the same thing in my manifold. i took the PCV out and used brake cleaner to clean it. Also had to because of the dremeling of the throttle body port. MAKE SURE YOU GET THOSE CORNERS RIGHT AT THE OPENING. there tends to be alot of metal buildup there when porting.

i would also suggest... if you have a FMIC, taking off the FMIC core itself and checking for blow by in there as well...my friends SR had so much blow by it was spewing oil straight into his FMIC, after a while, the car had a horrid bog,

he did everything from swapping harness, ecu, CAS, plugs, ect ect...until he decided to part the motor, he took off his fmic core and tipped it only to find a cups worth of oil in there...
