Possibly a stupid question

So I've been searching for a twin turbo and they seem a bit pricey or tough to find. Is it possible to get a non turbo and do an engine swap? Wouldn't that be around the same price or even cheaper?

I would say this is not a stupid question. It would depending on your market to possibly be cheeper to buy an NA and do the swap. Cause you could sell your engine if it's in good working order to offset your cost and same with the trans if you want to swap a 6spd in as well.

Thanks! If I get some body shop to install the engine, do you know if that's something that takes a while? Or is it a relatively quick process? Also, would I have to swap the trans? Sorry for the newbie questions...

First question wasn't stupid, but we're in danger of sneaking up on one... ;)

A body shop shouldn't be doing engine swaps. It's not a "relatively quick process" by any means.

I'd recommend doing some reading here: 300zx-n-a-to-fairlady-z-tt-swap-t185465.html
You're gonna need a LOT more than just an engine.

Keep in mind, after you buy a clean NA Z32, and then source a good VG30DETT, and all the needed parts, and pay to have the entire drivetrain swapped, you're going to exceed the cost of a clean TT - by FAR.

Patience and persistence will pay off.

Search this topic, it has been asked lots in the past. It would be more cost effective to look for a clean unmolested z32 tt

And I'm not sure as to which 6spd is being suggested to drop in. Stick with the z32 5spd.

By all data it said 40hours do the swap an keep in mind depending on the shop that's anywhere from 75-200/hour if not more. And that's not including tuning and dyno time.. Which with tuning can make the car a cuddly kitten or a full out monster. Haha
