No, Im not saying do

What, you mean like the purpose designed, 7079 grade aluminium + high tensile wearplate friction insert, 5kg flywheel that I designed in 3d and built over a year ago, and have had on offer to Nissan V8 enthusiasts & NICO for about the same length of time?
Why waste your time when you can just buy one off me? I did the R&D, I bought the materials, I've got a full kit at home waiting for someone to buy it. I've proven it works mint in my conversion, and the flywheel survived quite a lot of thrashing in the period of time I was using my car, including many hard launches. It bolts straight up with perfect positioning & clearance, and even looks like a factory item.
Oh, and it provides the desired throttle response you'd expect from a sports/race engine.
I think I've done everything I can to offer a flywheel solution for people, if you're interested, I can e-mail you further details.
Nah, Im not saying dont use yours, but there are improvemnets that can be made and this would be in the interest of doing a "new" one. Having said that if i were in NZ and you were local I may have chased it up for my mates conversion Im doing, but alas you are too far away - I hate paying for postage.I have acess to CAD and professional drafter, as i work at an engineering company. There is also a CNC machine at my Uni, so as far as it being a monetry thing, i am better off to use my design and make it in house.
To anyone on here though, unless this is the sort of thing you're into dont mess with it, buy someones kit or pay someone to build it for u.
I dont really think I will be making more than 5, 2 for myself, 1 for reference and 2 for LOCAL sale. Its just too hard to try and build something and market at the moment.
In reference to all the other posts and adapter plates etc.*Full 360 deg plate is better*17mm is the ideeal thickness, 15 is FINE, but on paper it should be 17mm, not worth arguing over in practice.*The flywheel design i refered to was for performance purposes, mainly trying to convey the point that a cast flywheel is 'weighty' it is not advisable to machine(lighten) a cast flywheel, the material properties lend well to EXPLODING FLYWHEELS
anyway enough said, and there are many little "no-no's" that we all probably accept into our cars, ultimately these wouldnt make a whole heap of difference. But yeah, your car, your choice.
