All I do is "possibly buy" cars.

Hopefully this time I actually get it.

But anywho.

I'm looking at a 1987 300ZX this weekend. The guy swapped in a turbo VG. He informed me it needed a clutch and thats it. Looks clean but I haven't looked at the car yet. He want's 1100. It didn't seem bad I won't know till I check it out.

I heard they have some rust issues in the trunk. Is their anyway to tell without ripping up the carpet??

Are there any other major problems I need to check out?

Thanks guys!!

Definitely check the under-body below the doors, and check around the edges of the wheel wells. That's where my 85 has most of its rust. I went to jack mine up, and the metal was so degraded my left front fender now bows out a little creating a bigger gap between the fender and the driver door.

WOW good to know.

I'm going to look at it hopefully tomorrow...they guy says its been garaged during the winter months so hopefully its in decent if not good shape!!

Oh and I got it wrong...it doesn't need a clutch...it needs the clutch line (I assume hydrolic line of some type.)

check the floorpans behind the seats, this is a common area for the floors to rust through when the T tops leak

Pulling up the carpet involves rolling it back like a floor mat. Then, you pick up the tool kit. It takes 2 seconds and requires unbolting nothing.
