So I was driving back to Dallas, Texas from Chicago, Illinois. Cruisin down the freeway at many points for an hour maybe more for a total of possibly 5 hours of 100mph driving. At some point during my final leg I kicked it up and had been cruisin at 100mph for about an hour at which point, something happened...

It was like something was cut out and I couldnt accelerate at all under even a lil bit of throttle. I soon found out that once I slowed down to 60 I could give some throttle, but could not accelerate past 77mph or 3500rpm's without the car shaking.

However in all other gears this is not an issue, as I can rev all the way up to the red line with no problem.

Anyone got any ideas as to what might have happened? And is this something I can fix myself? Ive searched a bit and Im a bit confused on what may have happened as my issue seems slighty different than others in older posts.

Thanks in advance.

Did you get it fixed? And if so how much did it cost you for the parts?

60 bucks to balance the shaft and another 130 for a new yolk and u joint. But if i were u i would jack the car up and put it on stands and check out the problem for yourself most likely the driveshaft.

a 77mph+ shake?? Must be rare. Most driveshaft shakes show up at a bit slower speeds. What motor are you running to be ragging the poor 240 for 5 hours of 100+ mph driving?

Lately I havent been doing any highway driving so I never get up to even 60mph, so this problem of not being able to go faster than 77mph or 3500rpms in 5th gear is a non issue.

Ive got the KA24de in rebuilt bone stock form. Rebuild happened bout 7 months back.

I havent had a chance to jack it up just yet
