I got myself an Apex'i N1 universal muffler. I would rather not weld hangers directly onto the muffler and risk rust or damaging the casing. I noticed the band thing that Apex'i uses some of there exhausts.

Where can I get one of these bands? Been searching for awhile now....

summit racing has something like those and they have A BUNCH of different sizes, you may not be able to get on the fit around that big muffler you may need to modify your stock mounts and put one just before the muffler

OR call Apex'i and ask if there is any way you can order one from them.....i dont really see why they would say no

The muffler casing diameter is 6.2". These pictures are the only clamps I could find on Summit that are 6". Might work but I think I will give Apex'i a call just to see.

I wold make one but I don't have access to metal fabrication tools. Ill check McMaster-Carr to see if they have a 20" long strip of sheet metal or something.

I would probably just get longer bolts, I'm mean only .2 to go. Your still going to need to mount some kind of brackets/bars to the clamp.

If apex'i is too expensive I would go with them.

We make something very familiar in the sheet metal line. We call them belly bands. It is use to hang spiral ducting. I agree with the others i would just make something. Super easy.

I would use something like 1/8 + diameter x pi. Then add on how ever much you want the tabs that are bolted together to be ie 2" sounds good, 1" for each side.

So 1/8" + dia. x pi + 2" that would give you your length.

I am going to call Apex'i first to see how much it will cost. If it is to much I might as well buy make my own. How thick should it be? I was thinking 1" wide and 22" long strip or something. Haven't got around to checking McMaster Carr yet but I bet they have it is steel or Stainless.

I know we use 18 ga and 1" wide when making our spiral hangers. But 18 ga might be a bit to much for you. 22" seems like it might be close. It comes out to 7" dia. I dont know how big you can is. You might want to measure it. Then just take it to some local exhaust shop and weld on some hangers and boom done.

So 18g is 1mm thick?

If so then that is .04"

The three different thicknesses that are available on McMaster-Carr are .015", .024", or .03"

I got it narrowed down to those three, they are all 1" wide, 304 stainless steel, and 36" long.

What thickness you with would be the best to use/work with?
