I was driving my coupe back from work earlier and decided to burn some rubber with VDC off.

I did, it was fun. I put it back on and drove home.

When I got to my house I noticed a click click click when I accelerated (or decelerated).

My wife also heard it and said it sounded like a paperclip (loud one) clicking around the tail pipe.

I took it for another spin around the block with the windows down and if I tap the throttle and let off. It clicks. I'm thinking it's coming from the driveshaft or differential.

Any ideas? I have a dealership appointment on Monday, but I need the car this weekend.

05 6MT coupe. Stock with bald tires.

Sounds like the nut holding the axle shaft to the hub may need to be retorqued (Fairly common problem). Shouldn't prevent you from driving it around...just take it easy until it's fixed.

You're saying the axle nut is loose and that's causing the click click sound?

Can I just torque it myself?

I'm just hoping the splines on the axles aren't stripped or a gear in the diff isn't messed up...etc.

I'm happy with your answer C-Kwik, but that seems too easy. Is there anything else that might cause that noise when tapping on the throttle?

Also, is it normal for the G's drivetrain to sound like a semi truck?

i've seen 2 things cause something like this...first being most common would be where the axle meets the hub is dry and needs to be lubricated. its not the axle nut loose...there is a bulletin on it.

2nd being the ebrake cable hitting the driveshaft cause it was left loose by someone.

1st being the most common...only seen the 2nd one once
