I am looking into buying an S13 with a CA18DET. The turbo parts are described as -- "Greddy turbo timer, Garret T28 Turbo, Turbo XS blow off valve, Turbo xs boost controller, K2 front mount intercooler"

I am not looking for a lot of power. My goal is more oriented to mild boost that is especially tuned for good gas mileage. Are the parts listed for this car a good quality that can work well with a CA18DET for my goals?

Thanks.

Well there are other systems out there, such as the Greddy eManage that allow for ignition tuning as well as fuel for a reasonable price. I found the SAFCII is inadequate for anything bigger than about 450cc injectors, and even then the ability not to adjust ignition timing would be rough.

Yes, stock injectors. It does not seem to me that larger injectors would serve my purposes well.

Piggy back = epic fail.

All it does in lie to your motor by artifically adjusting your MAF signal. I prefer a hard tune with a properly modified ROM (I run a custom EPROM with zero issues; many I have seen with AFCs have some form of issue).

The XS manifolds are apparently just fine once you reinforce the welds. Many have run them for years with few issues, but many have also run them for months with catastrophic failures. They are no AMS or Tomei Xpreme for sure.

I would make for damn sure that it is a real Garrett and not a eBay fake. I had a Turbo XS boost controller and LOVED it (twas stolen).

Presently, I do not know enough about it to even begin to know what you are talking about. I mean, I understand the piggy-back and the fooling of the MAF, but that is as far as it goes. I don't even know how to do that!

As a point of reference, the last car that I really worked on mechanically was a 1962 Chevy II. I have not worked on cars since the coming of electronics and computers. I am studying up on it now, but it will take quite a while to catch up.

However, I do appreciate you sharing some of your knowledge. Every addition is appreciated.

Thanks.
