Ok I think I came up with another way to do the sleepy eye mod. I have wanted to do one for a while but I don't want to spend $75 on a control unit and I don't want to cut a wire nor am I good w/ electronics. I may have found out a way to do this that will be cheap and easy to do and you'll be able to turn it on and off.

What you do is disconect the brown wire from the button and my gues is that it will need to be extended so that it could reach. Take that wire and soder it to one end of a switch then take another wire and soder it to the other end then run it to where the brown wire connected. That way, I think, you would be able to do a sleepy eye mod that would work like you cut the brown wire when you flick the switch off and then when you turn the switch on it would act like normal.

Any how if some one knows if this will work or not or if some one is willing to try could you please let me know if this will work?

ThanksAdiosJosh

If you want permanent sleepy eyes.My friend just set his headlights where he wanted them. Then disconnected his motors by the plug. He can use high beams and everything. I just use the switch mod and set them where i want. Then pull my fuse and lights work just fine.Except can't use highbeam becaus eit will reset them.

I read a post somewhere on NICO about a guy using a volume control nob from radio shack. he said he was gonna hook it inline with the headlight motors. than he would be able to adjust how far they come on by moving the nob up and down. I thought it might work cause the resistance in the wiring would change and make the motor stop rising sooner. either that or it would just cause the moter to rise slower. it could work, or not work, but it's only like 3 bucks for the nob.

oh yeah, you're idea might work out well, you should try it.

I would try but I want to know if it would work first. Or if some one who is planing to do a sleepy mod by cuting the brown wire could try this to see if it works and if it doesn't then he didn't loose anything.

Dude this mod works. I did like two years ago. cut the brown wire wrap off the ends, bam thats it, put the switch back in. Now turn on your headlights. Hold in the switch you just cut the wire from. turn your head lights off. You lights should stay up. Release the switchand the lights should still stay up. Press the switch and the lights will start to fall, when the lights get to where you want them press the switch again to hold that position. No parts to buy, no anything, and there it is. When you turn your headlights back onthey will drop on down and then come back up and work as normal. To redo sleepy eye hold the swich again and turn lights off. Then repeat what you just did, works every time.

i am the guy that suggested the sleepy eye mod using the volume knob...from what i figure you can cut the wire from the headlight relay to the motor and install a volume knob...it will drop the voltage to the headlight motor..they run for the same amount of time but at a lesser voltage which = slower motor speed..i havent installed it because i dont need sleepy eye with the lights off...because of my projectors i need it to close normally and only open to sleepy eye so my hid's are aligned...but i spent several hours with the wiring diagram and see no problems with this working if yo uwant sleepy eye when they are off and to open normally when lights are on..if anyone is interested let me know and i will find out exactly what wire it is again

Struckinc, if you have projectors whats the point in opening the lights all the way. Set your lights to where you want them and them be. Remove the relay or even the motors for that matter and save some weight. The orginal point of the sleepy eye was to allow more air to into the engine bay and into your stock intake. Notice the inlet behind the left headlight. This mod works for those of us who use the stoke lights and open and close our lights. You can cut the wire as i stated before and work the sleepy eye without buying a single product, unless you count tape or wire wraps to inclose the ends of the cut wires.

struckinc, what about using a potentiometer? From what I can guess thats what a volume control knob is. http://www.potentiometers.com <<there's a ton of them there, but I have no idea which one to buy because I don't understand the technicalities of them all hah

since you said you had studied the diagrams pretty good I guess you might know which one would work best?

WOW tony freak out

I just wanted to know if it would work, you didn't have to read this post nor did you have to post in it. I just wanted to know if I could do this. If I wanted to cut the brown wire I would. Your post was a waste of your time and mine for that matter. Please grow up.
