I bit the bullet and bought a genuine oem unit from an Infiniti dealer in Canada when I needed mine because I couldn't wait for shipping and it was double the price of IOS :tisk:. I personally don't have any experience with any aftermarket ones.

IOS has it listed for $259.66 I wouldn't consider that to be very expensive, especially since you've just "re-habbed your car." That couldn't have been cheap. I know I've been rehabbing my car since I bought it and a fuel pump to me is a very cheap $$ part compared to other things. I'm just saying that fuel pumps for our cars aren't much cheaper than IOS. What kind of prices have you found for aftermarket fuel pumps?

Here are some from Rock Auto:
http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,carco ... ttype,6256

$231.79 AIRTEX Part # E8219
$249.99 DELPHI Part # FE0360 {#FE036011B1}
$270.79 CARTER Part # P72130
$322.79 BOSCH Part # 69648

If I knew of a better quality part, I'd be the first to advertise/promote it :yesnod. It's hard to beat the quality of oem Infiniti parts, that's partially due to the fact that there isn't a ton of aftermarket parts for our cars out there.

If one were to clean the fuel tank, replace the filter every year or more and make sure the Fuel Pump Control Unit is in good working order I am sure 100K miles could be made with a OEM Fuel Pump.

To me and these cars (Q45's) 100K doesn't sound like much but to others its a miracle. I say that because there are so many who have tons of miles on there vehicles, hell T3 has a Q that has close to 500K miles and no HLA ticking noise as far as I know.

I've probably pulled my plenum at least 9 times in 20 years along with replacing fuel pump twice, but then again everyone buys their own gasoline which is 90% of the problem. Pump #3 already has 100k since 2003.

I am one my 2nd pump which currently has 146,000 miles on it, installed in Spring of 2003.....so far still working fine with 25,000-30,000 mile filter changes....tank has never been cleaned. Plenum only pulled once since put together in Japan in 1995

the honda gets cheap gas, no maintenence, used oil from Q, run all the way to empty tank until i m ready to fill up again,
never had to touch fuel pump or injectors, and has NEVER let me down, never an engine light on, recently abs light has come on
only light to come on in years. Why is the honda so much more reliable when i could have bought 3 of them for the price of the Q new??
I guess Q components are not 3 times as well made???? Should be, I d be dissappointed with car had i shelled out 60 K for it. Before you guys beat me, my first 94 Q in 1999 cost me 20 grand, thankfully this one alot less, however, no end of trouble came with it.
i shudder to think what wud happen to Q if i treated it the same way! infact without the honda i d be totally lost if i were soley dependent on the Q, shes just a drive way queen, and a pretty one at that,
hopefully FP shud be last issue for this year, till i need tires etc etc, hehehehe

Do you know what a Nissan President is?

The Infiniti Q45 was based off of it, A Nissan President is the most prestigious car Nissan makes. The Nissan president and the Infiniti Q45 was made for rich people that brought the car to the dealer EVERY 90 days for service. We only drive it because the value has gone so far down. But no matter the value I still look at it as a $50 car and try to treat it as such. Clearly others should be shot in the head for doing otherwise but that just means more parts for us.

I was kidding about the shot in the head part. But seriously these cars were meant to be driven by upper class people who could afford to deal with each and every problem that could possibly go wrong with them.

Well the fuel pump lasts at least 100K miles, the injectors fail because of the pathetic excuse for fuel we are forced to use. The under plenum hose design isn't the best but it does last roughly 10 years for a mere ~$2K to replace them all said and done.

And not all rich people act like rich people, some skimp on things that seem easy to them to replace such as a car.

I have to say Honda and Nissan are failing because they offer no true flagship. When the new Q comes out then I think Nissan will get the respect it deserves.

Nissan used things in their cars that the German's didn't even have in there flagship vehicles. Heated/massaging seats, Fax machine, Remote start and I am sure there is more.

Nissan cuts costs in the engines, Toyota cuts costs in the accelerator (Supposedly). Everyone has to cut costs in todays world sadly but I am glad Nissan's cost cutting hasn't killed anyone (yet?).

I bet T3 has not seen a Q with a blank check in a while but they will see me in a couple of years.

If a Q45 is properly maintained I dare it to break down, blow a fuse or disappoint the owner in any way other than his wallet. But you have to pay to play as they say.
