Possible Motor swaps for the 720

Postby breadbox » Tue Dec 23, 2008 9:15 am

I have been trying to find all I can about changing out the gas eating napz24 for a KA24e. So Can I get the definite answer on if the KA24e fits in its place?

I read something about the transmission mounts at angle?

I read also they use almost identical blocks, except 240sx motors are girdled?

i've seen a few people swap for the KA and it doesn't look that hard but i don't know any details. as far as the block they are very similar and the two engines both have the same bore and stroke... exactly.

and what kind of milage are you getting???

I've seen one done to almost perfection. Guy that goes by Nis720 on youtube and cardomain. I've seen him on a forum somewhere, can't remember which one. Here's a quick video of his swap.

Oh and my mileage is anywhere from 15-18 MPG.

I probably get like 15. I don't drive far or much at the moment.

I just don't know about the carb'd motor. I'd rather throw in a rebuilt KAe, but I keep reading about some motor/trans angle? I read the mounts are the same and others say you need to make custom mounts.

I figured people have swapped every motor known to man in to hardbodies and that there would be a couple nice build threads out there, I have not found any. I think I am going to get my 240 on the road then tear into the truck and find out the truth on the whole KA24e swap using the stock trans.

Yep. The carb and engine needs rebuilding though. I've been thinking of dropping in a KA too...
