So Im looking to lower the coupe but dont have the money for a lowering kit at them moment. Well I have enough for the kit, just not the installation and the alignment after (minimum 250 for install and 60 for alignment). When searching for other options I stumbled upon some little devices called spring clamps and found them to be quite a wonderful alternative to some lowering springs or coil overs ($40 compared to about $220 for just the springs and not even the install). Now if anyone has heard of theses or has had personal experience with them, please let me know what you think of them.
And if these are not at all options whats more worth it coil-overs or just the eibachs?
Heres a picture of the spring clamps

Seems legit :gotme

I would not do it, it's bad for the springs. plus its a ricer mod :nono: lol. id say be patient and save up. Racing line should have their springs on the market not long from now and will most likely be cheaper then eibach's

I still wouldnt do it, I can see problems with using them in many ways. and you still would need an alignment. Think about it, If it was a mod that could do what a lowering spring does why does everyone still buy the springs if they could spend so much less money on this?

Just to let you know a friend did this to his late model Chevy and one of the springs broke due to the stress this put on the spring and he lost control and crashed into a house. He lived but the property damage cost him. Don't take short cuts with the safety of your AC.

I agree with everyone else, I don't see anything good coming from this.

Would it not just slam down on the clamps every time it compresses?

This might be a worse idea than cutting springs...

if you can't afford the install plus the alignment, you can't afford coilovers.

What I would give to go back to age 16 knowing what I do now...

IMO, I would save some money on both ends and go with springs. Get that bank account busting at the seams so that when you are ready to trade in the AC you upgrade and not downgrade. Or just to have some extra scratch for future mods to the AC down the line. The difference in cost will go a LONG way.
