Sometimes a bad CV joint will make a click sound while accelerating or braking with the engine, but only when they are REALLY shot. I had a CV joint go bad on my old Mazda Protege and I never changed it. Eventually, it got so bad that I could grab the axle with my hand and there was at least 1 inch of play in the joint when I wiggled it around, and it would make a terrible noise. I doubt that your joints would be that bad already. It could just be some slight play in the joints, but I've never heard it on my V (could be because the CVT never shifts?). Also, it could be some play in the spyder gears of the differential in the transaxle. One time I had a small chip in one of my spyder gears, and when I would let off the gas, it sounded like I was engine braking with a diesel.
