I have always read positive feedback re doing business w/Jason Burtman's business. I know he helps sponsor ($$$) some of these forums. I just recently purchased my first from him. I'm not satisfied w/his and his supplier's advertising and then follow through of the order which is decidedly different than the web advertising; it's misleading/misrepresenting.

I have tried to get a hold of Jason since yesterday w/out success re same. Has anyone ever had any similar problems w/Burtman?

Hello,My experiences with Jason have been overwhelmingly positive. I am sorry your have having problems with your order. If you do not mind me asking, what did you order? Furthermore, many independent companies are closed in the days leading up to the Fourth. Hopefully, that is the case in regards to having difficulties reaching him.Cheers,M.L

I don't wanna get too much into it quite yet-it could just be me-my thinking/perceptions ain't perfect!? I ordered an "OEM wood" dash kit. Yeah, the 4th- he could be gone.

Anyone else have any experience here w/any problems?

No, he doesn't sponsor these forums.

Jason's never given me any indication that he's not a stand-up guy, but unfortunately, he's never seen it necessary to abide by our commercial posting rules...

Keep us posted on the outcome.

Hello,Greg, I did not realize he was not a sponsor. By the way, thank you and Szhosain so much for the Huper Optik tint recommendation. It has truly been the best aftermarket purchase in my 14 years of driving. That stuff is amazing.Cheers,M.L

Thanks, Mark! Glad to see it is working out.

I am looking into installing it on some windows at my house ... lots of sun coming in and my home office gets hot (even for California!) because it also has three computers running in there at various times.

No problem, brother. I'm looking at adding it to a few windows in my house as well.

I talked w/Jason today. He was nice in a "the customer is always right" kind of way; as it should be. His supplier apparently has provided some information re the product of dubious and/or very misleading value. He and I will both contact the supplier and see what gives?

Will let you know. This concerns the "OEM wood" dash kit for extra wood effect. Be careful here when you order; what you see on the supplier's website is not what Jason gets from the supplier and sends on to you.

Jason is a moderatore and a stand up guy, but he is a small operation concerned more with quality instead of flooding the market with the greatest quantity.

The fact the he mayhave been unavailable for 24 hrs. would be a minor concern if it were me.

I hope he becomes a sponsor as his add-on wood kits and other products have always been top quality.

Jason may be all the above, but unless you've ordered this kit for "OEM wood" and you end up w/ugly CHROME plastic for the center stack; "top quality it ain't." Before you say "top quality" did you personally order this kit yourself?

On another Infiniti site I've since learned that Jason had apparently been told about this screwup over two years ago w/another unhappy customer.

Subsequently Jason did not put a disclaimer in his advertising that the actual product he would send you was different than the actual product pictured in living color on the supplier's website, or he told the supplier to change the picture but they did not. To his credit tho, he did leave it out of the picture of the black and white layout on his Burtman site.

Whatever was done or not done, so far the customer, that's me got screwed; again in my imperfect perception-and perceptions are individual things. We'll see what happens next. I'll let you know.

As I await the resolution to the below, I wonder am I an old curmudgeon as some have suggested for originally wanting what I paid my money for and so displayed on the B & I site, or just a customer who saw the product brilliantly displayed in full living color, didn’t read the small print which contradicted the full living color display-saw something not completely ethical in the whole process and attempted to make it right?

I guess the final perception re this small slice of reality (whatever that is) re me, Jason and B & I will be predominantly in your own minds and not what I, Jason or B & I have done.

But “whatever,” basically consumer beware re this “OEM Wood” kit advertised on Jason Burtman’s site. The center stack comes in stinkin’ Chrome; yeah-ugly, ugly. You apparently will have to ask Jason to order the extra wood-like piece for $21.00 US + Jason’s mark-up. I think it will be worth it. In my perception it looks kool (but not perfect-but what is?) and worth aggressively pursuing like any old fart US Marine might do…

As soon as I get all installed, I’ll post some pictures.

Last (Below) of my written communications w/Jason Burtman of Burtman Industries-The most recent (my last message w/him) on top in descending order to the oldest (first message) @ the bottom:

RE: dash kit‏ From: Jim Goodwin, Psy.D. ([email protected]) Sent: Tue 7/08/08 6:57 PM To: Jason Burtman ([email protected])

Jason: Thank you for the "and I won't make a penny." Hopefully you made a little something on the original sale. Funny thing, I as well have not made a penny w/this unfortunate episode for both of us. In fact it cost me $29.00 more. But more importantly it has cost us both more than money; our irreplaceable time which could have been better spent. What I have learned is that you do have good customer support after the "fact;" but that fact took us a while to sort out. The issue of this new center stack wood-like piece not being "a perfect match to the corresponding factory color pieces beside it" is of course w/out being said. The pieces of this kit originally sent to me by you are of course clearly not a perfect match to the factory wood-but good enough except for the most compulsive of personalities of which I am not. It's good enough for me. I would expect this next piece to be pretty much the same; not perfect but good enough considering the other pieces. I can only hope that for future orders for this kit, until B & I gets rid of the "stinkin' chrome" pieces you do a better job of more overtly in big letters on your site distancing yourself from such shenanigans; i.e. "you will receive a big ugly stinkin' chrome piece where B & I shows on their site wood grain." It may prevent such future mishaps; i.e. dealing w/an old and persistent fart like myself. Jim

Got it. Hmm. Well, the mastermind is Wayne, and I just called and now of course, he is on vacation. I spoke to Eric, and yes, that $21 is MY COST, and yes I will give it to you for my cost as well, not a problem and I won't make a penny. Keep in mind that this piece may not be a perfect match to the corresponding factory color pieces beside it. This was another reason, suposedly why this piece wasn't made, because the match may not be perfect. This can't be returned as it's being custom made to order.

It's $21+8 shipping $29. I will rebill you card shortly. Jason----- Original Message ----- From: Jim Goodwin, Psy.D. To: Jason Burtman Sent: Monday, July 07, 2008 6:07 PMSubject: RE: dash kit

Jason: I contacted B & I by phone today. According to Eric, Wayne is on vacation. Eric stated that the reason the chrome sets are being sent out is that they have an excess of these kits in stock. When the chrome ones are sold out he stated "that will change." He stated that the wood-like center stack piece that I want will cost me $21.00 extra. He stated that I was to contact you and you would order the part for me.

He stated that the part I wanted specifically is labeled as WD 598/RW. Please order the part for me and bill me. Please make sure that indeed the chrome part will be sent wood-like as pictured on their site. I'm not real sure about the credibility of these folks, vs the "story" they told you and you told me about not being able to get the wood part into that particular piece. Apparently they just have a lot of chrome parts they want to get rid of before they make the kit all wood-the "story" now from Eric.

Thanx Jason. Jim________________________________________From: [email protected]: [email protected]: dash kit

Date: Thu, 3 Jul 2008 13:53:09 -0400The layout on the Burtman Industries website is what the dash kit consists of. The layout doesn't even show a piece for that area at all, but the factory has been including a chrome piece. Remember, this piece is not shown on the layout at all, it's just a bonus they are inclusing but can't be mad eof wood do to curves. This is why our layout doesn't show the piece on the layout, since it can't be wood.

Fax to Jason Burtman: 866-897-58641 JUL 08 I just received my WD598A kit, OEM wood kit for my ’06 M35x. The problem is that the pictures on the B & D site show piece # 5 as being wood grained like the others. However, it arrived CHROME and it so stated “Piece #5 always comes in CHROME color” on the included sheet. What is going on? I don’t want CHROME-nor did I order same?!

Well, I gotta' hand it to Jason.

I finally got the wood looking centerpiece and he has gallantly paid for it. There was a screw up, but it looks like Jason had a smaller part in it than the supplier. Whatever, neither Jason nor the "wood" is perfect, but then nothing is perfect. But in my book I really like the wood like effect (see below), and I kinda' like this Jason character after all.

Let's hope Jason is more explicit in his advertising w/this kit next time around...

Not- He billed me on 8/13 for $24.99 to cover part of what he stated he paid for the part; $48.00. Gallant or not; it's your perception.

1) Jason's not a moderator.

2) I'm not feeling the wood... mismatch is obvious.

3) What's up with your carpets and floor mats? You got some cleanin' to do!!!

Grain match is impossible unless it is fake or all done at once from the same veneer in the factory.

Human beings (me being one), habituate, get used to, don't notice a novel stimulus after it has been present for some time. I'm there. I really do not notice the mismatch-but I do get the warm wood feeling from all being "close." It suits me just fine. It was the rigmarole getting the parts that didn't.

The parts were never advertised as being perfect (come on-nothing is), especially the centerpiece per Jason's rationale he stated for not originally including it w/the rest of the kit.

Funny thing about my floor mats-the machine must be clean-the mats apparently are not part of the machine!

It was 1970. I was a young (!) US Marine on R & R from Vietnam. I was in Tokyo (my only trip there so far) and just fascinated w/the art of feather dusting one's automobile during the red lights.

Yes, every auto on the road that I was able to look into had a feather duster resting on the dash. And honest to gawd @ each stop light even the taxi drivers were out dusting off the machines. White gloves indeed!!

I have to say that, the brownish color leather interior is the ugliest interior I have ever seen, no offense. Especially with that wood trim, and now adding the extra pieces is just tacky....like I said I dont mean to be rude but I wonder all the time why Infiniti chose such an ugly color for such a great luxury sedan.

"Brownish" Hmmm, the pictures really turn it orange in my perception. Obviously though, there are many who perceive it as you; hence Infiniti discontinued the color.

I really looked far and wide for the color combination when I finally purchased it used on e-bay.

As for me, well I think it's beauti ful.

Tacky or not; what's the old cliché about "one man's meat is another man's poison?"

No wonder. Considering what life has thrown your way for being such a young punk; you are probably a reincarnated Japanese warrior-Samurai. But instead of a Katana (the Infiniti emblem you are so attracted to) you wield the feather duster as do so many modern Japanese @ stop lights.
