As I await the resolution to the below, I wonder am I an old curmudgeon as some have suggested for originally wanting what I paid my money for and so displayed on the B & I site, or just a customer who saw the product brilliantly displayed in full living color, didn’t read the small print which contradicted the full living color display-saw something not completely ethical in the whole process and attempted to make it right?
I guess the final perception re this small slice of reality (whatever that is) re me, Jason and B & I will be predominantly in your own minds and not what I, Jason or B & I have done.
But “whatever,” basically consumer beware re this “OEM Wood” kit advertised on Jason Burtman’s site. The center stack comes in stinkin’ Chrome; yeah-ugly, ugly. You apparently will have to ask Jason to order the extra wood-like piece for $21.00 US + Jason’s mark-up. I think it will be worth it. In my perception it looks kool (but not perfect-but what is?) and worth aggressively pursuing like any old fart US Marine might do…
As soon as I get all installed, I’ll post some pictures.

Jason: Thank you for the "and I won't make a penny." Hopefully you made a little something on the original sale. Funny thing, I as well have not made a penny w/this unfortunate episode for both of us. In fact it cost me $29.00 more. But more importantly it has cost us both more than money; our irreplaceable time which could have been better spent. What I have learned is that you do have good customer support after the "fact;" but that fact took us a while to sort out. The issue of this new center stack wood-like piece not being "a perfect match to the corresponding factory color pieces beside it" is of course w/out being said. The pieces of this kit originally sent to me by you are of course clearly not a perfect match to the factory wood-but good enough except for the most compulsive of personalities of which I am not. It's good enough for me. I would expect this next piece to be pretty much the same; not perfect but good enough considering the other pieces. I can only hope that for future orders for this kit, until B & I gets rid of the "stinkin' chrome" pieces you do a better job of more overtly in big letters on your site distancing yourself from such shenanigans; i.e. "you will receive a big ugly stinkin' chrome piece where B & I shows on their site wood grain." It may prevent such future mishaps; i.e. dealing w/an old and persistent fart like myself. Jim

Got it. Hmm. Well, the mastermind is Wayne, and I just called and now of course, he is on vacation. I spoke to Eric, and yes, that $21 is MY COST, and yes I will give it to you for my cost as well, not a problem and I won't make a penny. Keep in mind that this piece may not be a perfect match to the corresponding factory color pieces beside it. This was another reason, suposedly why this piece wasn't made, because the match may not be perfect. This can't be returned as it's being custom made to order.
It's $21+8 shipping $29. I will rebill you card shortly. Jason----- Original Message ----- From: Jim Goodwin, Psy.D. To: Jason Burtman Sent: Monday, July 07, 2008 6:07 PMSubject: RE: dash kit
Jason: I contacted B & I by phone today. According to Eric, Wayne is on vacation. Eric stated that the reason the chrome sets are being sent out is that they have an excess of these kits in stock. When the chrome ones are sold out he stated "that will change." He stated that the wood-like center stack piece that I want will cost me $21.00 extra. He stated that I was to contact you and you would order the part for me.
He stated that the part I wanted specifically is labeled as WD 598/RW. Please order the part for me and bill me. Please make sure that indeed the chrome part will be sent wood-like as pictured on their site. I'm not real sure about the credibility of these folks, vs the "story" they told you and you told me about not being able to get the wood part into that particular piece. Apparently they just have a lot of chrome parts they want to get rid of before they make the kit all wood-the "story" now from Eric.
Thanx Jason. Jim________________________________________From:

Date: Thu, 3 Jul 2008 13:53:09 -0400The layout on the Burtman Industries website is what the dash kit consists of. The layout doesn't even show a piece for that area at all, but the factory has been including a chrome piece. Remember, this piece is not shown on the layout at all, it's just a bonus they are inclusing but can't be mad eof wood do to curves. This is why our layout doesn't show the piece on the layout, since it can't be wood.

Fax to Jason Burtman: 866-897-58641 JUL 08 I just received my WD598A kit, OEM wood kit for my ’06 M35x. The problem is that the pictures on the B & D site show piece # 5 as being wood grained like the others. However, it arrived CHROME and it so stated “Piece #5 always comes in CHROME color” on the included sheet. What is going on? I don’t want CHROME-nor did I order same?!
