Everyone talks about lazy eyes and east bear or AbFlug. I was thinking of something that is sort of a mixture of them all. I like the idea of pop-up or controlable headlights. I also like the idea of flush mounted lights. I like the ab flug design, except I'd prefer round lights, not rectangular ones. Ab flug: What if you had something like that, but it was recessed and not quite flush with the hood. Then you still utilized a controllable cover that would slide over the glass to conceal it. So, when the lights are off, the cover is over and it looks standard. When you turn them on, the cover slides back, under the hood, and you expose the glass enclosure underneath. Inside would be two round HID's. What do you think? Ideas? PEACE. Tek.

NSR (NICO sponsor) actually has one, I just haven't had time to get it up on the site yet (webmaster). It has round lights and looks sick. Watch for it in a couple days.

My point is though, that I think it would be unique to have the stock headlight cover over a set of flushmount lights. When the lights are off, it would look completely stock. When you turn them on, instead of turning, the cover slides under the hood to reveal the lights. It's more of a show thing I guess, but it would look nice. Of course the light kit itself would not, technically, be flush mount, since the cover sliding over them in the off position would be flush, but you get my point right? Just think of the headlight cover as though it were a power window. It could be extended and retracted at the press of a button. Instead of being clear, it would cover the actual glass, or lexan, while you're not using the lights. Then slide back, like a power window, to reveal the lights when you need them. Anyone think they could do this? You could probably rig the existing motor up to it, or re-mount it somehow. PEACE. Tek.

That is an excellent idea, Tek! I absolutely love it! Get a patent and you could be in major business...seriously. If you manage to create such a design, please let me know, for I would gladly purchase a set from you...Sounds really amazing...something out of Transformers or something...ya know?

Keep me posted, k?

I made some custom mounts for some Sylvania Xenarc HIDs. The light pattern was a little weird, but still better then stock.http://www3.telus.net/kreen/headlights.html

Too bad my welding skills made it look like vandals did it.

I like the look man. The welding on the hood like you said could use work but the finished product is something to be proud of. NICE!

Have you guys seen how vettes lights "flip-over"?? I think it would look tough to have the flush mounted ligths flip-over to a smooth bottom side....

My friend did something that looks very similar to Abflug, but with two 90mm lights per side, one for high beam one for low, similar to the ones on clearcorners.com They look really nice and it was rather inexpensive

It would seem, looking at the pics of your headlight converstion, that a Silvia hood (the one that goes with the fixed lights) might fit and give you that look.

Me likes :D, gotta figure it's cheaper than a Silvia conversion and more unique. What did you use for the metal "inserts" on the hood?

Thats pretty much the ones, he got them from susquehanna.com, $50 a piece, 2hi-beams and 2 low -beams. But its a lot cheaper than paying about $1000 for the clear corners.com lights

I used some steel sheetmetal that I got somewhere. I folded the edges over and welded it on.

That's a good idea for the Silvia hood. But I think the front edge follows the line from where the fender and bumper meet. You'd have to see one first I guess. Maybe someone on NICO that has done the silvia conversion can take a photo for you. PEACE. Tek.

I measured a Silvia hood before I munged mine. It was too long by about 3/4" if I remember correctly.

Would it be tougher to shave off 3/4" or try and weld inserts?
