possible future flakey alternator?

Last night the battery light dimly came on. It was barely on. When i reved or started moving the light went away. Alternator going out?

yup. have it tested at a local parts house like autozone or kragens, they will usually roll out the vat and test it for free.

I had the same problem with my car. The light would be lit a little at idle but as you reved it up, the light would slowly dim out. At around 4500 rpms, the light would start to flicker.

I changed it out with a newer Bosch alternator and now it's fine.

My friend has a spare KA24E alternator. If you have a 89-90 240, and you are interested, let me know. He doesn't want much for it.

note: vat 40 works great.do not let an auto parts store test your alternator off the car as nissan alts can not accurately be tested off the car.
