Hi,I own a 2000 Xterra. Two days ago I drove my truck to the store. When I returned to go home, I tried to start the truck but nothing happened. The dome lights and the radio were the only things that would work. I got a jump start and the truck started. Thinking the problem was with the battery, I replaced the battery yesterday. Now with the new battery, the headlights work but nothing else. I checked all interior fuses and they are fine. I checked the fuseable links under the hood and they all seem fine too with the exception of the 100 Amp Battery Fuseable link. Could a problem with this fuseable link cause the problems I'm having??

that is your main fuse for just about all components. this usually blows under a limited number of occurances. the 2 bigest is 1 hooking up jumper cables back wards or 2 hooking up battery cables back wards. did this happen? look at your battery does the cable with the red cover go to the terminal with the + sign? and does the black cable with yellow stripe go to the - sign?

Thanks NISTECH,you're right, I wasn't paying attention when I first installed the batteries and connected the terminals wrong.. So now that the problem is isolated can you please tell me where I can purchase a new Fuseable Link and exactly how do you remove the old one. I've been trying to remove it all morning but it won't budge. I actually cracked part of the housing trying to get it out.. Please let me know if you have any idea how to get it out. Thanks

yea it bolts in you need to remove the covers on either side of the relay box to gain access to the bolts. there should be a couple 10 mm bolts holding the box down undo those lift the box you should see a release tab or 2 to expose the lower portion of the box.

Thanks NISTECH

I've located the part. I called my Nissan Dealer and they carry the part and it's only $6. So I'm probably gonna go pick it up in the morning. Now I just need to remove the old one and hopefully everything will be okay. Thanks for your help. I will let you know how everything turns out....

NISTECH,

I just wanted to let you know that I replaced the Fuseable link today (It took me longer than I thought). The cover to the relay box did no want to cooperate. It took me a while to get to the bolts but I did. I replaced the Fuseable Link and everything is working again.. I just wanted to thank you for your help. This Forum is great.... Now I know where to go if I ever have anymore problems..... Thanks Again
