Anyone have any recommendation oh how and if the Ujoint on the drive shaft can be replaced. Going to test it out in the morning to see if it is even the driveshaft.

I just went through this same issue 2 weeks ago...Car would not pass PA State inspection, due to the condition of the u-joint. I had been noticing a level of vibration through the steering wheel at highway speeds, and replacing the whole driveshaft seems to have cleared that up.

From all that I have read, you can not just change the u-joint on the OEM drive shaft...You have to replace the entire assembly. Unfortunately, I didn't have the time to replace it myself, so had the shop doing it, but another member recently did the replacement themselves, and said it wasn't too bad. You do have to remove the passenger side catalytic converter, which can get a little tricky with rust and corrosion, but, other than that, should not be too tough.

Good luck!

I am sure the U-Joints are not custom to the driveshaft. Somewhere there is a replacement, we just need the part # on the U-joint!

From photos posted, it appears the cups are pressed in & then staked so they do not back out.

I see a few U-joint sights on the internet that show how to match up the size of the joint you need.
We need an old joint with cups to do this...anyone have an old shaft with joints handy?

That's good to hear.
What were the symptoms that made you suspect the driveshaft?
