I have a large area of land that is flat. It's about 400 feet wide, and a thousand feet long at it's longest point. For those of you who don't work well with footage, it's almost an 8th of mile wide, and almost a 4th long. For those of you who are bad with milage, it's just HUGE.

Now, I want to make this into a drift/auto x track. Before I even begin to think about this project, who would be interested in this track?

It will be located in Pennsylvania close to Butler.

Any followers?

Okay, not what I meant... Haha... Would anyone be interested in donating any money for this project? The property is based on our home business, so it's publically open. If anyone would donate, they would have a lifetime free pass to get in.

I'm talking about a publically operated place for people to legally practice drifting on without risking another's life (EXAMPLE, THE NEW OWNER OF THE ZEROLIFT DRIFT CAR DRIFTING IN A PARKING LOT AND SMACKING A CURB! That person could have seriously injured someone in the process).

I'd also like to hold car shows, NICO or Nissan meets.

If I do this, there will also be concession stand, and an on-site tire changer

Like I said, this may never come to happen if no one is interested.

Any additional ideas from anyone?

I dont know man. I just looked up Butler PA on a map, and it only seems convenient if you live in the Cleveland/Erie/Pittsburgh triangle. I personally wouldnt drive 270 miles from DC to go sliding. Maybe for a big meet, but not on a regular basis.

TK -

You're going to need an umbrealla policy of at least $10M to start with.

The land is the least of your concerns - Check your local laws, city ordinances before you get too far into planning.

Not trying to be a killjoy, but we've been trying this in AZ for years.

Wow, I want to do this too in the San Benito County in CA. I'd suggest contacting the planning department and discussing your idea with them. Noise, traffic, and a large impervious surface will all be tough issues to address. Not too many people smile upon large peices of pavement or noise. Perhaps sound barriers like short walls and tree lines will reduce that. Initial grading and paving will be expensive. Planning runoff areas and turns will be fun. Plan on a storm drain system with fossil filters and a large onsite drainage basin to collect and dissipate runoff. Check out zoning restrictions on your lot, maybe no commercial allowed... Dont forget parking for spectators, fuel, water, bathrooms and sewer, electricity, maybe night lighting and fences to keep guys like us from sneaking in at night. Try to plan for overlaying the pavement in the future. Like someone said, "Build it and they will come"!

Id love to see a drift pad get done here in PA, but i think it should be more in Central PA. Personally i live down near the MD line and its a good 4+ hours to drive to Butler. Too long of a haul to go beat the piss out of my car and have the probability to break. 100 miles is my max travel distance. AAA covers towing up to that.

I am from Plymonth Meeting and i drift and run autocross in my s13. I am hoping to be able to practice a lot more without getting a ticket from the police. If your building a track/Drift pad i will support you any way i can. I am associated with drift organizations and racing teams that will also support you. If the property is for sale contact me (484-716-6522) my name is Kyle. My father owns a shop where i have three built S13's ( KA-T, RB, SR) powered S13's. I am very interested in running my car there since i am so close to your location. Contact me even if i could run my car there privately [email protected]
