That does not really sound like a clutch problem

That happens a lot to me too. What I usually do is depress the clutch again, then move the shifter firmly straight back, then let the clutch out while modulating the accelerator. Works most of the time.

alright..for who ever asked for more detail. In 1st it starst slow.. i press on the gas and it takes more than the usuall effort to reach 3000rpm. When i finally get to 5th gear and im doin about 55 it feels like its draggin . I cant really explain it but it feels like something pulls on my speed and trys to slow me down...its not strong pull but enough to notice it. Im afraid it might have to do something with my transmission.=(..oyeah by the way does anyone know if the older 3000zx's eshaust fit on my 89 240sx se hatchback...and will it bring more than 5hp to my engine?

Drive the car in 4th gear about 20mph. then hit the gas pretty hard. Watch the tachometer-if the tach jumps up fast and the car doesn't accelerate much the clutch is slipping, either out of adjustment or more likely the clutch has worn out.

youre gettin weird on me. no, 300zx exhaust will NOT bolt onto a 240. and no, exhaust will not really bring more than 5hp, unless you have a lot more done to the engine in which case the exhaust might be holding you back. more than likely, no.

could a brake pad be hanging up? if you try to coast the car, does it feel like its being slowed down without you pressing on the brakes? or is this just upon accelleration?
