possible bottom end tapping

Hey yall how it is going well i own a 04 g35 sedan and while sitting in my driveway i heard a tick every once in awhile and it sounds like it coming from bottom end but has anyone else seen or have heard about it and if you have i would greatly appreciate it its got 60 thousand miles i change oil every 3500 with mobil 1 full syn EP and i bought it with 49 800 miles so dont no previous owners but just curious thanks for any opinions and thoughts

What I believe you are hearing is the exhaust system cooling down?

Metal expands as it heats up and contracts as it cools.

Have you ever heard the tick after the vehicle has sat all night?

We have another member here (Jacko) that has been known to sleep with his G so perhaps he can chime in to assist you?He knows every fart & tick that his G makes.

I agree completely with you . Yep, I have come close to making love to the G.

Most cars make that ticking noise once they are shut down---its just metal contracting or dissipating heat, from the heat it was once exposed to.

naw its not the exhaust if its idling sitting still and standing outside the car you can hear it while it runs i mean i drive hard but all i hear is how strong these motors are and is that true or i dont no

When is the last time your cabin filter was changed?

honestly i dont no i bought the car in march i have looked at it its not nasty or super dirty its fairly clean. but what are the weak points on these motors. something has got to be weak i dont no i love the car and keeping it but i dont no anyother suggestions

Your cabin air filter filters out A/C and Heater air, not engine air. It sits behind the glove box in the blower motor.

i own a 2003 g.i too hear a slight knock on occasion while idling just like you described.

i dont know what it is, and went into a panic when i heard it right after buying mine with 63000 miles. so far its not any worse after 12000 miles, so im not too worried.

cool well atleast i aint the only one yeah its not real loud your got to wanna hear it but yeah i was worried i was gonna go to the dealer but i aint worry about it then thanks me my 04 g35 sedan is about to hit 60000 in a couple days so glad to hear thanks bud
