Welp for what i have.. stock SR with a walbro fuel pump finally installed.Bought a manual boost controller the other day, "rented" a boost gauge (being that im still waiting on mine to come VIA mail, was impatiant) to adjust accordingly.
Had it set to 10psi, been driving like that daily. Haven't checked the A/F ratio, mainly because it's 3psi, wasn't really thinking it would make a drastic difference.
The weird thing... just today im driving home in good ol' slow rush hour. So i leave it in first, dying with my heavy *** clutch, driving with about 4,000rpm constant. I drive like that for no more than 1-2 minutes, let traffic clear up, punch it only to hear a new noise. Kind of a whistle begining with shhheerr. But it only happens quickly, not constant. Scares me thinking that either it's trying to suck air through my intake, but maybe my cone is comming off. Like sucking through a hole i guess..
Pull over, pop the hood, nope nothing. So i go okay... rev it up from underneath the hood, dont hear it at all. get back in, rev it, nothing. again im like okay.. maybe it's during boost.
So i lay on it full throttle, right around 4k i hear it. Only lasts a little less than half a second. So i let the rpm rest at 4k, punch it again to hear it a little better. Works, noise re-appears.
So, i go back under the hood, i don't hear again. So i get the bright idea and stand over on the driver's side, reach over and rev her up again. Bam i can hear it. Sounds like the wastegate is just popping open momentarely. Not sure though. Noise is defently comming from that side of the engine bay.
Would a bad actuator do this?
