Well my friend is looking to sell his 1989 240SX. I believe it is an XE. I know it isn't an SE, it has the other style of tail lights. Is has a KA24E. The odometer reads 206,000 KM (128,000 Miles), however the speedsensor or something it the gauge cluster is broken so it hasn't functioned for a while. It is safe to assume its probably something around 220,000KM (136,000 Miles).
Anyways, the body has almost no rust, he had all the rust repaired. The only rust there is a tiny amount of surface rust in the door jam which I can easily fix.
The paint on the car is part primer (I could care less). I can get a cheap paint job by a friend if I really cared.
This is the only pic of it I have to show you:
http://www.imagedash.com/uploa...j.jpgNot the greatest pic, but it will have to do. Anyways here's what he told me:
Quote »The Good:-New battery in 2007-New alternator in 2007-New block-heater chord in 2007-Custom-made exhaust in 2007 (2.75" piping and muffler from Minute Muffler, bent it myself in class, got someone else to weld it, shiny tip too)-Over $1000 of rust work in 2006 by Platinum Paint & Body (the primer-coloured parts in the pictures)-New front bumper, front fenders and left head light cover with the rust work.-Can have a new rear bumper put on as well.-3 sets of rubber: the stock 15s with bald tires, Goodyear Nordic winters, and Fraser's gold 17s, although he's still deciding if it wants to sell them to me at all now, I should hear back from him today.-Interior's been kept spiffy clean and I've tweaked the front seats to make them more like bucket seats-Heads-up display and deadly S13ness blah blah blah, but you know all that already.-Replaced the....drive shaft...mount or something in 2007, I can't remember the specific name but it goes around the drive shaft and keeps it from rattling all over the place, which it was doing before I replaced it.
The Bad:-The paint job, unless patches of primer is your thing.-Won't start. It's definitely just the starting system though. Currently am trying to figure out if it is the starter itself or some other component.-Right headlight won't retract down, should be an easy fix though.-Gauge cluster needs to be replaced. Speedometer, odometer, cruise control and dash light do not work. It's definitely just a matter of replacing the cluster though, so only about $100, I think Brock has an extra one he'd be willing to sell.-Radio does not work, but it's the stock AM/FM w/ cassette player anyway.-Most of the speakers don't work, but they're the stock ones anyway and probably are only an issue because of the radio.-Clutch is soft/slipping. Haven't had the time to investigate this, could just be a matter of replacing some fluids or springs or making some adjustments.-Whining sound from right front wheel well on some right turns. Car isn't pulling or anything, though. Likely ball joint.-The tires on the stock rims are pretty bald.-The exhaust gasket right after the cat needs to be replaced with a real one because its just the one we made in Fenske's class out of gasket paper so it's starting to leak now.[/quote]Just want to know what you guys think.
He doesn't expect to get much for the car. I know this car needs some work, which I am more than fine with.
Thanks!
