Hello guys...Im definitely a newbie here, but have been researching infinitis and maximas quite a bit on my used car search over the last 6 months. I finally think i have found a infiniti that I may jump on as I think it is a possible good deal. I just need some opinions.

Specs of the car:
year: 2000
model: Infiniti i30
mileage: 82,000 miles
Engine: 3.0L V6, Transmission: AUTO 4SPD
other: Power Windows, Power Mirrors, Alloy Wheels, AM/FM Stereo Radio, Bose Stereo System, Cassette Player, CD Player,Leather Interior, Spoiler, alloy wheels, etc.

Recently changed: cv boots, coils, brand new cd player.

Clean title
Clean carfax

Talked to the gentlemen selling the car and his dad just purchased a new car and is trying to sell. He has lowered his original asking price of 5,900 to 5,600 to 5,300. I offered him 4,400 and he said come see the car and we will talk.

Question: Do you feel this would be a good deal on a 2000 infiniti with 82k miles with a clean title and clean carfax?

If I purchase, would I encounter lots of fixes or does this car hold up pretty good other than the regular maintenance (i.e. brakes, fluid changes, etc). Any help for a newbie would be greatly appreciated.

thanks sooo much

If you can get it for less than $5,000 and it is in excellent condition, it's likely worth it. I would try to get it for less though, because I bought mine 4 years ago for $5,000 and it was in perfect condition with 98,000 miles on it.

As far as reliability, mine has been excellent, but there are some minor quirks you may experience. Oxygen sensors and pre-catalytic converters will be the two main things you may have to face. The oxygen sensors are no big deal, but the pre-cats can be pricey to replace sometimes. Don't let those things scare you away from the car though, because there's nothing saying when those might need to be replaced. Other than that, you should only have to worry about basic maintenance if it's been well cared for.

I've been driving mine for 4 years and it has 150,000 miles on it. The only thing outside of fluid changes, brakes, tires, and other maintenance items has been the one pre-cat, two oxygen sensors, and one ignition coil. I plan on driving this one for at least another 2-3 years, possibly longer, so I highly recommend them. It's one of the best sedans i've owned.

Good luck and let us know how it goes! We will require pictures too if you purchase it. :bigthumb:

thanks A33, i went ahead and got the infiniti i30 for 4400. It has 82k miles on it and has been really taken care of. I posted a new topic today (monday @ 11:30), if you dont mind looking at it . I could use some suggestions on preventative maintenance, etc.

My SES light came on the 1st day i had the car (i couldnt believe it and hopefully its a simple fix).

thanks
