possiable electrical problem

aight, heres my deal now. about a week ago, the stop/tail light, brake light, and the battery light's all lit up on the dashboard. it would turn on and off at random times. so i thought nothing of it. just yesterday, my radar detector had all the lights on, and was constantly beeping. also, at the same time, my speakers in the doors went off, but my bass in my trunk was still thumping. so i figured it was a problem with my alternator, i checked that out, alternator is fine. so i followed the warning lights, brake fluid is full, tail lights work, battery is fine. last thing i can think of is checking the fuses.

has anyone else heard of this happening?? could it possiably be a short in the wiring somewhere???

Did you get the alt tested under load ??

not when i posted this, then yea, after further testing, the alternator is working per say, but not working enough.

I had some weird electrical issues in my J30 last month that involved the battery, brake and that other light being lit on the dash. Turned out a corroded wiring harness was causing my battery to receive no power from the alternator.

ok, so yea... problem solved, picked up an alternator from a junkyard, swapped it out. and it works like a dream. all the dash lights are off, check engine light doesnt come on as much.

Glad you got that fixed. Now scan the codes and see why the cel light is still coming on.

well... i hope so too... i pulled it from a '96 infiniti j30.

and actually, the check engine light hasnt come on since about 30 miles after i replaced it.

quick quesiton about that. if the check engine light is off, will the devices still be able to pull the previous codes?? and if so, how many codes back??
