Hi Guys,Not really had any issues at all with the car of late but there is now an issue developing with the positive terminal lead.

The main lead is still in good shape but the part sof the cable that comes off the main lead into the red connector has now become very corroded - see photo below for details.

I'm assuming that I'll probably need ot replace this component and just wondering if I can get the part easily enough or not?

I saw an Altima at the local wreckers yard and wonder if they use a similar detail?

If not - any ideas?

Thanks in advance

I don't know how electric savy you are but if you have some crimpers just get some electrical connectors, cut the wires and crimp on some connectors and just hook them onto the side of the batter post, where the whole thing connects anyway. Crimpers are about ten dollars at harbor freight and connectors will costs you maybe a couple of dollars for a pack of them. And the connectors i'm referring to are the ones with a round ring on the end. Most likely will be able to use the blue ones, think they are for 12-16 gauge or something like that. I just got rid of my connectors like that because of corrosion and hooked them onto the side of the battery post on the bolt using the before mentioned connectors. May not be the 'correct' fix but works just fine.

I've just been out to the car and tried to disassemble the cable & connector as much as possible to see the extent of the problem.

The two connectors that go into the red block appear to be rusted on - the plastic moves but the cable doesn't

I've cleaned up the cable and reconnected the terminal connector and the car is starting fine for now.

Sorry for the crap pic quality - should have used my Nikon instead of HP cheapo...

Would still like to get the red connector block disconnected and get it scrubbed/cleaned up or replace it with something else if possible?

So you just cut out the red connector and made direct connections to the terminal?

I was assuming that the red connector had some sort of resistor function but if its not a problem thats cool.

Ya thats all i did. To be positive you could test that one end with the inside with an ohm meter. If ya have one. But I've had no problem.

I gave the connections a drowning in WD40 yesterday - so hopefully I can disassemble more of it today.

Looks like you have replaced the positive terminal already. Just cut out the red connector and attach the wires where the two brass bolts are.

Uhm this was rather badly bodged while I was overseas by a "mechanic" and I'm just trying to sort out the mess covered up by layers of insulating tape...

I used a different terminal. It has worked ok so far. I think i would be better off to cut the red connector out of the circuit.

Excellent pic

I'll just hacksaw off the original seized bolt and clean it up and then reconnect
