Crimpers are about ten dollars at harbor freight and connectors will costs you maybe a couple of dollars for a pack of them. And the connectors i'm referring to are the ones with a round ring on the end. Most likely will be able to use the blue ones, think they are for 12-16 gauge or something like that. I just got rid of my connectors like that because of corrosion and hooked them onto the side of the battery post on the bolt using the before mentioned connectors. May not be the 'correct' fix but works just fine.
I've just been out to the car and tried to disassemble the cable & connector as much as possible to see the extent of the problem.
The two connectors that go into the red block appear to be rusted on - the plastic moves but the cable doesn't
I've cleaned up the cable and reconnected the terminal connector and the car is starting fine for now.
Sorry for the crap pic quality - should have used my Nikon instead of HP cheapo...
Would still like to get the red connector block disconnected and get it scrubbed/cleaned up or replace it with something else if possible?
