This weekend I will be replacing the crankshaft and camshaft sensors on my g due to the dreaded engine going dead for no apparent reason syndrome. Everything I've researched comes up with oem only and all at the same time. Okay I'm doing that. What I don't understand, and this is mainly rhetorical since the engines have these sensors anyway is why are there 3? The cams and crank are tethered together by a chain and unless it jumps teeth or breaks should be turning together. I may have a mental block about this but what am I missing about the necessity for this, it just seems to be complicated for the heck of it.
