Does the CA18ET and the DET share the same engine mounts?

Quote »will the head for the ca18det fit on the ca18et?
Actually, it will fit, but the amount of money spent modding the timing belt tensioner area and reconfiguring rods and pistons may not be worth it. Considering you have the money to play with a possible full CA20 swap, anything is possible with dollars. And I'm almost sure the head will need to be machined to match the bore of the CA20's block (Could get expensive$$).Quote »have found a ca18et and woundering if i can convert it for a et to a det
It's not worth the hassle. Just get the DET and save yourself the dramas.

ok in that case could I go with a long block and keep the trans. or is that also a loss? I also have to assume that if I go that the way of the full swap that I will also have to invest in a new ecu and redo the wireing harness. is that so? Will the turbo and the exaust system swap between the two? lastly dose anyone know the power out put of the single over head cam? what is the power difference between the two?

thanks guys

you could actually buy the car (granted it's in good shape) and I guess drive it until you're ready to upgrade. The ET and DET's turbo system is not interchangeable because of the different head design and the crappy turbo that the ET has, not the T25 is all that much better. You could buy a CA18DET motor complete minus a complete harness and ECU and go with a simple standalone system. But if not, you can use the DET harness and ECU and let JWT square you away to some degree.

Buy it. Rally the f*** out of it. Replace motor with det, rally it more. Is it an independent suspension model?

minor rust on the body. I plan on rebuilding the body in carbon.I dont know the engine looked new so I dont know how bad this looks. I am planing on replacing everthing that is rubber, changing all the fluids and checking the timing belt before I even move it. any other sugestions?

this is a picture of one of my peaces that I am working on. I have weaved fiberoptics into the clear coat of the carbon fiber peace. That way the car appears to have no markings on it untill I hit a light switch and all the emblems glow through the clear coat. this peace was not finished when I took the pic. but I am almost done with it now. that ****er took about 14 hours to wire.

Ok first that carbon fiber with optics is badass. Good idea on the rubber and t-belt. you should also check the brake and clutch res. Do a fluid flush for WAY better feel. also see if your steering rack is leaking......mine was but i put in a stop leak PS fluid and it stopped. then you should pull all your ac stuff.....unless it workes. It's actually a good bit of weight. Next thing to do is join http://www.club-s12.org/ .

Man seems to be a lot of interest in the good ole s12 these days......I wonder if somebody else will beat me to the det swap. :dogpile
