Hey Guys,

I bought the Skunk2 v2 spacer kit and was thinking about polishing the intake ports since I'll have everything off. Not taking any material out at all just cleaning up the casting junk and polishing more than anything. Has anyone done this? Did you feel the difference? My biggest concern is the TB. I've disconnected the TB in the past and have attempted to use a TB cleaning product without reading up on how sensitive the TB really is and mucked it up. What would be the safest method of removing the TB off the plenum? Could I just unbolt it and wrap it up but not disconnect from the harness?

Thanks

Yeah just remove the TB...

As far as porting and polishing... Biggest enemy is heat, so I wouldnt go overboard on the polish part, might end up with a cracked plenum.

The lower plenum shows a huge difference if you shave down some of the runners... I've done it, and with a spacer and bolt on Mrev i did see a difference...

here is a really good write up on how to do it... I suggest reading the whole deal as there are big differences depending on how you modify the plenum...

I already finished a nice port and polish of the lower and installed the spacer.

After removing the plenum top I found so much burnt oil inside that the entire plenum was coated and looked gold in color. A couple of the runners were severely coated it was like removing tar. Anyway I cleaned it with a rag and prepared my dremel. Began with a 60grit, and worked on simply removing the casting joints from the inside out. Then used a 120grit and finally a polishing brush. After completing the inside 4" I began polishing the remainder from the outside working my way in. It looked great after 3 hours. I washed it and wiped everything down using a clean rag and qtips. Finally used compressed air on all the small holes to get all the aluminum out. I cut the outer section of the plenum gasket and left the inner oil separator gasket so I could reuse it. Reinstalled everything using blue locktite. I reconnected the battery and performed the ecu reset, accelerator pedal reset, idle position reset and idle air reset. The car now drives like a dream. I do feel a bit more power in the lower rpm band but the little tromping I did felt like a lot more power. The engine also screams louder even with normal driving. I'll have to report later if there really is any fuel efficiency and tomorrow ill be driving on the highway so we'll see if there's umph at higher rpms.
