How difficult is it to port and polish the intake manifold for someone who has never done it before? Should i even attempt it. On tv i saw a show that did it and thay basically just used a dremel tool.

Well you can at least do what i did and just remove the casting marks and make it all smooth, not sure about the porting part.

I had a guy do mine for me. As warped161 showed... basically you can clean them up, and make it smoother.

he did a good job.

HAI with Bored TB port matched upper and lower intake manifolds

be paitent my son. currently taking the finishing pictures of my throttlebody porting to do a writeup. its not what you take off its where. you can seriously do harm to airflow by removing to much. a good guide loo look up is smallblock chevy performance by chevy hogh performance. yea i know chevy but its a great book for learning to do port work yourself. im not really planning to port my intake, the size is pretty good maybe just some cleanup. also since now im thinking of turbo i may make the custom intake.

One of the hardest parts is that you are dealing with aluminum. When you use a dremel the grind piece gets loaded up real fast with aluminum making it useless. the trick is to get some paraffin wax and coat the grinder in it to keep the aluminum from loading up and you can get much more done.

Not to promote another forum, but this guy can help you.

Hes on maxima.org and probably on here as well name was KRRZ350...

I sent him my upper and lower manifolds and he ported and cleaned them up great...I noticed a nice gain above 4K...

Charged me $175 plus the shipping and then you will pay about $50 for new intake gaskets from Nissan.

Find that guy and he can help you out if hes still doin them, but if youve never done something like this before, i would not make this manifold the first one you do.
