Ok, lemme ask you to clarify something. Your popups, are they web page popups in IE windows? or are they little dialog boxes with spam in them? If they are IE popups check your startup menu in the programs menu of the start menu. My brother had popups like mad on his computer it turned out he downloaded something that put a program in his system tray that gave him popups. it evaded my adaware scans somehow, then I noticed it and deleted it from the startup folder and it was fixed. Kazaa is bad too. For general browsing I use Mozilla
http://www.mozilla.org It has a built in function to stop pop up windows and works better than any "pop-up blocker" I have ever used. You gotta enable the function in the prefrences so if you try it let me know if you have problems finding it.
If your popups are of the second kind, that's the messenger problem (you should disable messenger anyway if you don't use it even if you don't have that kind of popup)
