popups... plz read?

Lately I've been getting stupid annoying popups on my comp randomly... worst is when im playing a game! so it alt tabs me out... I'm using Window XP, anyone else have this problem? any solution? Thanx in advance

yeah also if you have kazaa running, that gives you random popups from time to time. I only run kazaa when I'm actually downloading something now.

no! its a windows msg system.. go into start --> settings --> contole pannle -->Administrative Tools --> services --> messenger then turn it off (stop) then from the drop down menu (start up type) choose manual

there they willl never pop up agine

.. yeah they pi$sed me off too

when you install kazaa lite, there is an option to install a "supertrick" (do a custom install)--it says it would block most popups.

Ok, lemme ask you to clarify something. Your popups, are they web page popups in IE windows? or are they little dialog boxes with spam in them? If they are IE popups check your startup menu in the programs menu of the start menu. My brother had popups like mad on his computer it turned out he downloaded something that put a program in his system tray that gave him popups. it evaded my adaware scans somehow, then I noticed it and deleted it from the startup folder and it was fixed. Kazaa is bad too. For general browsing I use Mozilla http://www.mozilla.org It has a built in function to stop pop up windows and works better than any "pop-up blocker" I have ever used. You gotta enable the function in the prefrences so if you try it let me know if you have problems finding it.

If your popups are of the second kind, that's the messenger problem (you should disable messenger anyway if you don't use it even if you don't have that kind of popup)

I was a big Imesh user and I could never get that stuff off of the comp, even after I unistalled it. I just recently had to wipe the hard drive and reinstall everything cuz my gf f'd the comp up, but I've now decied that I'm just going to have to live w/o DL's. Adware and popups drive me up the wall. I sometimes wish there was a way that you could pay to have a popup/adware free version of the software. I think I'd actually be willing to pay for that.

Laurel. . . I've noticed there's a ad in the bottom corner of Kazaa . . . something like "Shoot the duck and win". . . everytime the duck hits the right side of the ad, you hear a quack. . . yes. . . annoying ads suck *ss. . .

really guys if you have to use a download program use kazaa lite.. it has no pop ups... but if u already installed kazaa then u have the spywear on your system even after uninstalling it.. also sometimes u will be looking at websites and i thing will pop up its registred to the "gator corp" or somthing.. dont click yes to that.. or ur screwed.. did it once by accedent.. only way to get rid of it is format and reinstall...

I think you can get rid of it by clearing out your downloaded program files folder (in IE). ( I mean for the Gator crap)
