Popup headlights '89 240sx

The popup headlights seem the be a common problem in the 240sIn my case, they work alright in warm weather, but as it cools down they start getting balky.I guess the fact that cold contracts is causing the problem.They get stuck in the up position and sometimes repeated pushes of the dash button will have no effect.Any ideas what I have to look at to solve this problem?
