popping sounds in exhaust?

ima make this quick: i hear popping sounds when im in 1st/2nd gear at low rpms...usually happens when i pull into a parking lot in 1st and reduce speed (w/o braking). My cars specs are in my sig, is there anything that causes this?

have you removed the aiv yet? if not, it could be with that. the reeds, when open can cause popping through the exhaust.

look at the black box behind the air intake box.

This should be normal. Mismatched exhaust, and a 3" catback on a N/A motor will cause it. You need more back pressure.

will the silencer help w/ backpressure or just dull the sound out a little?

the silencer will help a little, but the KA doesnt really have the air flow for a 3" exhaust.

though who am i to say anything, i had a Apexi GT spec on my old S13 before i put in my SR. though it would cause the EGR valve to malfunction over like 70mph....

check for an exhaust leak, might be a bad exhaust flange gasket or exhaust manifold gasket

It's just pressure pops caused by less backpressure than stock. Don't worry about it.

i have a 3' exaust and ive been running with it for over a year, it happens. you could use the silencer but its not gunna help it much. what you could do is get a different muffler with a lower input diameter and use an adapter this will help some more also. but yeah you really dont need to worry about it.
