I've been getting a popping sound when I turn left coming from the front right side of the car. I need to get in there and double check to make sure everything is tight, but I haven't heard this sound before.

Any ideas?

Assuming its NOT the end links.

Check the spring insulators. If they are damaged, the metal spring maybe making contact with the metal strut housing, which will cause that noise. You may also want to check your center cap, this caused me the same headache once before.

I know that its not the spring insulators, i've done the suspension enough to know what the springs and shocks sound like. This sounds like a loud POP when i'm going really slow backing out of driveways and stuff. Almost as loud as a cap gun. It started really small, but its gotten much louder very quickly.

What do you mean by center cap?

Pull the wheel off, take the center cap out and put it back on. For whatever reason mine started making noise when I would turn the wheel to the left only at slow speeds.

In a G without a 350Z suspension alteration I would say that sounds like the rubber bushings in the compression rods are tearing and should be replaced. It's the large L-shaped aluminum rod connecting the rear of the knuckle to the frame rail. On your car however I do not really know. You can try spraying some penetrating oil on the top and bottom of the inner bushing to see if that has any effect on the noise.

Since it only happens when you torque the body I really think compression rods.

Three possible sounds coming from front end, I've found and fixed....

The popping sound was the nut on my compression rod that I hadn't torqued down tight enough and it wiggled loose. Its stuck on there good now, and no more popping.

If you are getting a clanking sound when you go over bumps its most likely your strut mounts. It could also be the end links for the sways, which is much more common if you have swapped out to aftermarket.

ive been getting this sound horribly for bout 3 weeks now... it even does it when i hit my brakes sometimes.... took it to nissan and they had no clue... took to my normal mechanic and first thing he said was my sway bar bushings were bad as u could see metal to metal contact..... well my g just hit 100k miles so the suspension squeaked as well, so i bought brand new tein coilovers as well as sway bar bushings... installed both today and still have the popping but not near as much.... guess ill try the compression rod first and go from there...

its weird cuz i can be sitting still and turn the wheel all the way either way and it does it too.... but in the air on a rack it wont do it... so it has to be something that is load bearing too
