please help ! i have a popping /clunking noise coming from the front of the car ,97 240sx se.this only happens when i apply the brakes but i cant seem to pinpoint the exact location .it seem as if something is loose or out of place and when i apply the brakes it pops back in or somthing.my friends and i have tried tofind the source of the noise by haveing someone looking under the vehicle while slowly moving forward and applying the brakes we think it may be suspenson related as well.this is very annoying but i may take it to the dealer but i would like to avoid the costs.please help if you can.thanks in advance

or its your subframe bushings. If you haven't replaced them yet i recomend you do so. they seem to wear our easy on our cars.

In my Laser my caliper was only held on by one screw and missing the other, drove around 2months with it til I backed up and heard a pop/thump and the whole caliper itself slid up on my wheel. The whole time I drove it the brakes felt awkward like they were going to pop out or something. I figured something was up but when it slid up on the wheel I had friend and his mom's b/f come over and they fixed it for me. Uhh dunno if that helps but figure I share that.

Like you said though go have it checked before anything worse happens to it that way they can tell you Exactly whats wrong. goodluck. :)
