popped my screen pump apart!

Hi, long time driver - first time poster! be gentle...

I have a 2005 murano, big petrol engine, big comfortable car, nice black paint, overall nice car!

Couple of weeks ago i hit by gate post on the right hand side plastic skirt, no real damage visible but the windscreen washer bottle immediately emptied onto the floor.

Took the inner wheel arch covers out and found that i had popped off the bottom of the pump - the round thing with the two tubes (front and back) which plugs into the pump at the base of the bottle...could not obviously find any washers on the floor so got some from a toolbox, plugged it together - no leaks, hoorah! However. now when i squirt front screen the back squirts aswell!!!!

I realised that it might not want washers inside but maybe a kind of blanking plate to seal front from back, so in order to go out and source such a thing I removed the whole plastic contraption and connected the tubes straight to the pump (so no link at all between the front and back supply pipes) - short term fix i thought....but it STILL squirts from both ends!!! How does this happen?

My question to everyone is this...what goes between the black side and the white side of the thing i took off the pump? Have I knackered something else or is it a simple fix??

Has anyone looked inside this thing before to know what is in there, i can find no exploded diagrams on t'internet to help...?

All help gratefully received...it is embarrassing when i unintentionally leak from the rear....
