You need to be more specific. When does this happen? Can you reproduce it by doing something while your car is stopped/moving/etc?

For example: car pops when putting into reverse, or car pops when slowing down starting at about 15mph, or while car is parked lean on the front fender and let go and it pops or squeaks, or happens only when turning.

Can you determine if it's a left or right side? Does it sound like metal on metal? Did you check your other bushings i.e. lower control arm bushing? When you replaced the upper mount, did you also buy a new mount gasket?

Did you torque everything down to spec?

Other than the popping, is there any affect on your car (i.e. vibration at a certain speed, pulls a certain way, something suspension related)? etc?

When did this start happening? What was the last thing you did on the car before it started happening?

Details man, details.

Check lower control arm to tension rod nut torque.

i can feel i most at low speeds and when the wheel is turned. it feels like the passenger side. i happens when i stop or i hear it at low speeds when going over bumps. this sound started when all the parts where stock. the front control arm bushings look fine and when i have had it on lift i used a pry bar to check for play but there did not seem to be any. also the car pulls to the right even though i just had an alignment.

Check the strut tower itself. If its bad or the bearing is bad it will make a popping sound when turning and such.

I had the same problem. I went to the mechanic and when he lifted and let go of the right front, the popping noise would form. I could see and was told that the strut itself is seized and needs replacement.

the strut has been replace and the sound is still there. i guess the only thing left could be my control arm bushing or could my rack and pinion be going bad.

i had a popping noise from my front left side also, turned out it was my sway bar pin or link as they call it in autozone.

i recently put coilover and pillow upper mounts. i was hoping that would stop the poping but it didn't.

+1

I had the same exact thing. Hit a pothole in the mean streets of the Bronx... then popping noise was heard when making a right turn & was localized to my passenger side "swaybar endlink."

Heck, I'm still waiting on 240Kid's offer for that thing since I think he has upgraded his swaybars...I temp repaired it by putting a washer over the nut.

i feel stupid!! i just replaced my tension rods with new kazama t-rods and the popping sound stopped. i noticed when i was taking off the rods the side that the noise was coming from was not torqued down and they were easy to take off so hopefully that was the problem. also the rsponse of the new tension rods is great but i can feel the cracks in the road a little bit more now

I have the exact same pop, and I know it is coming from the right side. I know this because whenever I go over a speed bump with the left over smooth pavement and the right over the bump it makes the pop, but if I do it left on bump, right off it does not make the pop. I suspect my tie rods personally, but I will also check the tension rods and sway bar link. I think I will go get some film in the camera and take photos of as much of the suspension as I can.

I went under the car today and gave the tie rods a wiggle, the left felt solid, but I could feel abit of play in the right. Plus on the left the rubber bushing around the end link (where tie rod meets wheel) was shredded.

dfw240_ee if you are going to replace your tie rod end and are not going to upgrade go with nissan tie rod end because the price is the same as after market and the quality is better.

My research has found that Autozone Tie Rods are $50 and Tein rods are about $80. I think the extra $30 would be well spent.
