The last three times I have logged in, there were pop ups. Now, I have heard that sometimes the Mods on this site will do anything for a buck, but that is part of the reason I have posted here, instead of say, Fresh Alloy. Is that what we have become? Is this symbollic of the Mods appreciation for what we do? We buy products from advertised sources, and visit those links, and get them their paychecks, but pop-ups?!?!?!

WD, please tell me I am wrong.

Maybe you just have adware on your computer. I have never had any popups ever, except when I accidently click on banners.

I would accept that but I have done it on two computers. I don't know maybe I will run a scan, and see. Also, it doesn't happen on any other site. I would really feel like a douche' if that is all it was.

the same thing happened to me this morning. I opened up Nico and BAM pop-up's... that has never happened before. I just turned on my pop-up blocker and that solved it.

Check for spyware also, clear out your browser cache and cookies.

Very likely what might have happened is something might have gotten attached to your nico cookie, and basicaly executes a script everytime it detects you opening this site.

It is not a really new technique but looks like it's starting to be used again.

We're looking into the issue.

I can assure everyone that we all hate pop-ups and they are not intentional in any way!

It will be fixed.. please be patient with us!

Gang, no code has been added to NICO that would instigate popups. Greg would have a cow if NICO was causing this.

I am looking into it regardless......

Yeah, I noticed the same thing last night. Mozilla blocked a popup from this site. I was like, .So I hit the back button, and then clicked again, but nothing. It only seemed to be random. I haven't gotten anymore, but I thought maybe it was another browser I had open giving me a popup, but the only one open was eBay.And I don't think WD would know what's going on. He's lives a moderators sheltered life in the KA-T forum that only see's 10 post's a day..

If anyone receives more popups, post here. I believe I found the offender and took care of it.

Hey Matt, I just got one about 5 minutes ago but didn't pay attention to what code caused it because that was before I knew there was a problem. If I get another one though I'll screen capture all the ads that are on so we can look into the code.

OK, we located the reason, and it's been "eliminated"... Let me know if there's any more issues with this.

Sorry about that - Thanks all!!!

LOL.

Anyone who tells you that is a moron. Mods have nothing to gain from advertising. Any money from ads goes to NICO to keep the site running and help fund meets/events. None of it goes to us. We spend a ton of time on the forums trying to make them the best possible place for you guys. We don't want to wade through popups anymore than you do.
