you seriously paid a few hundred just so you could flash your high beams? why not just get a set of driving lights on a switchAlfador wrote:I will say that they are a pain in the *** if you want to flash your high beams. You have to plan it out ahead of time. They're the main reason I want a silvia-conversion.
I havent done it yet, and the point isn't the high beam thing so much, as I just really dont like flips that much. They were neat for the first couple weeks, but then they started to irritate me a little. The more I looked into the conversion the more I liked it tho (just personal preference, and that there aren't any near me maybe) so I'd probably go with it either way.Red coupe wrote:you seriously paid a few hundred just so you could flash your high beams? why not just get a set of driving lights on a switch
paid a few hundred? i thought the conversion was a lot more than a few hundred? If its only a few hundred Im doing it.Red coupe wrote:you seriously paid a few hundred just so you could flash your high beams? why not just get a set of driving lights on a switch
I remember seeing on some TV show once that pop ups started with the Ferrari Daytona. They actually did pop ups because plexiglass headlamp covers were banned in the US. However, a quick web search and the oldest Daytona I can find is a '68, and the Corvette started with flip ups in 1963. Maybe I am missing something with the Daytona.Chingon wrote:'80s fad, 'vette tradition. there really is no advantage to pop-ups besides remembering that you have your lights off at night, and aesthetic reasons.
Its anywhere from $700-$1500 depending on the condition, the type of headlights you get with it, and so on. Thats not including shipping or the cost of painting it.240sxdominos wrote:paid a few hundred? i thought the conversion was a lot more than a few hundred? If its only a few hundred Im doing it.

I HATE the new-er futuristic looking cars. I never understood what the difference was until you just pointed it out. The high taillights with huge drooping rear bumper. The only car I like that look on is the g35. I dont like tall + bubble. I miss the box carsJuujai wrote:i believe it was a fad. like in the 80s to early 90s it was box cars, then in the mid 90s it was bubble cars, 2000s were big bubble cars and present is like future cars with weird lines and really tall height.
Yep, but if you pay 15 you're getting ripped off. I priced myself around 800+paint.Ender_Zero wrote:1500??? you could buy a friggin SR for that!
I have been looking into the SR lately (my KA is in pretty low shape right now). Try about $2600 from a reputable source for a redtop (phase2, HT). A blacktop is now $3000 or more.Ender_Zero wrote:1500??? you could buy a friggin SR for that!

No... no you couldnt... A couple of years ago yes, but if you think you can get an Essar that will actually run for 1.5k then you are sadly mistaken.

I solidly agree there. I might bite if I lived nearby and could personally get the motor fully inspected by a professional mechanic that I trust (objective opinion).nismofly wrote:those prices kind of sound fishy to me, id worry about the credibility of that place
