Hello,

I did do a search on this, as well as posted in the general 240 section, but it did not get much response, so I thought I'd give it a try here.

My popup headlights in my 91 240 don't go up or down (unless I manually move them up or down). I see a total of 4 relays (one in the fuse box by the battery, and 3 in the fuse box underneath/next to the air box.)

Does anyone know of a procedure to test these relays? They're 19.99 a piece at AutoZone, so I'd like to test them to be sure they're bad before dropping $80 on them

Any ideas?? I do have a multimeter, but not sure what to check for.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I guess that's part of the problem, I don't know.... it could be the headlight motors, it could be the relays, it could be the wiring (though I hope it isn't!)

This car was from a cold climate area, so if the motors froze (possible?), and someone held the button trying to open them, it could've burned out the motor I suppose??

However, I suppose replacing the motors/canister things (what are these? I thought they were the actual electric motors ) would at least eliminate that as a possible culprit

how much would you want for the motors/canister parts? I'd be very interested.....

Any one else with any methods to test a relay?

Thanks

now don't go throwing parts @ it... diagnose it 1st...

i found one of the threads as i've mentioned earlier by searching...

NISTECH is da man!

dust off that multimeter/ switch a few relays around/ have @ it... GL!

ps: mebbe the previous owner wanted to do that sleepy eye mod; pull the pop-up switch on the left of the steering wheel & check for intact wires... then head over to nissan online mechanic.
