2009 Versa 1.6L with an automatic transmission. Can you please help me understand if there's a real issue or it's normal? I'm not a very mechanically inclined person.
Sometimes when starting to move after stopping at red light, the transmission seems to try to switch to 2nd and then quickly to 3rd gear but seems to fail to with engine RPM shooting up into 4-5,000 and crying loudly but the car doesn't accelerate at all. It's sort of like what happens with manual transmission when you forget to depress the clutch... So the engine revs up like crazy but I don't feel any driving pull on the wheels. I quickly lift my foot from the throttle pedal and start accelerating slowly and then it drives fine. This happens occasionally, 99% of the time the car drives just fine.
Is this an issue? The car is still under basic warranty, so I will take it to the dealer, but I want to understand the possible problem better myself first.
It's usually driven by my wife and she never experiences this. I am somewhat of a led foot driver. Could it be that I push the throttle too hard too fast? Though I don't think so. I've driven many cars in my life, manual and automatic, and had never encountered such behaviour before. No mater how hard you accelerate, the transmission and engine at least are trying to catch up.
