Just picked my new to me M35x 2006 I had the dealer (Infiniti) install XM radiofor me. I am getting really bad reception with a lot of drop outs and searching. The dealer has said this is normal. My wife 08 MDX never loses signal in normal driving. Is this normal for the M35? Thank you for your help and experiences

I have the same exact car/factory setup XM tuner as you, and I have not experienced any fading or dropouts (except for when I'm under the overhang at the Starbucks Drive-Through window ). Of course, we're pretty flat here in FL, and there aren't too many tall buildings.

Never experienced this on my M35 with factory XM. Seems I read somewhere that there was a problem with the antenna leads coming loose on the '06 model. You may want to do a search, or go back and insist the dealer fix it. In other words, satellite signals do not fade - they are line of sight transmission. XM has multiple satellites and memory for holding steady music as you go beneath underpasses. In metro areas, they have local (similar to FM) broadcast signals to fill-in between buildings, etc.

This happens to me all the time and I am considering getting rid of it. I got it for the times I drive in the mountains of Berkshire County where you can't get FM reception, but found you also can't get XM either! But I also have it drop out while on the open interstate up that way so am thinking the signal is not strong countrywide, that in the "corners" you have a serious drop off of coverage and signal strength. I happen to be in that area and am very dissatisfied with the XM reception.
